“HAPPINESS [is] ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED” -- Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild

Wealth Professional magazine as one of Canada’s Top 50 Advisors for 2014.
Brian began his advisory career at RBC Dominion Securities in Fredericton, where he was member of their Presidents
Club from 2000-2003, and in 2003-04, he was named “Advisor of the Year” by
Advisor Magazine.
It was in November of 2005, that Brian opened the TD Wealth Private
Investment Advice office in Fredericton. He was named Branch Manager &
Vice President upon joining TD Wealth. Brian then obtained the Portfolio
Manager designation. In addition, his TD Wealth branch was named as the
runner up to TD "Branch of the Year" in 2006.
Brian has had articles published in several magazines, the Globe and Mail and
has been on the Business News Network's (formerly ROB-TV) Money Talk
hosted by Patricia Lovett-Reid.
In his hometown, Brian was on the District Council for IIROC in New Brunswick and was a member of the TD Wealth
Manager Advisory Council. He is also actively involved in the Community of Fredericton.
He is a member of the Loyalist Rugby Club and was the first person from New Brunswick to sign a professional
contract to play rugby in France in 1994. He still plays rugby and several other sports recreationally.
Brian has been on several boards and fundraisers including his climb to Mount Kilimanjaro for the South Devon
School. He was the chair for the Green Matters Campaign for TD, which provided over 15,000 CFL light bulbs to the
City of Fredericton. In November 2006, he chaired the Bruno Bobak Roast, where they raised over $50,000 for the
Beaverbrook Art Gallery - the largest fundraiser in the history of the Gallery.
In 2008, Brian was the first person from New Brunswick to ski to the North Pole to raise money for Science East and
to raise environmental awareness in the province. He has brought awareness to and supported Fredericton's goal to
be first city in North America to reach Kyoto protocols. In support of the
mission, he has sponsored and created an annual essay contest for the last four
years in partnership with the city’s green matters campaign.
In the fall of 2008, he chaired the Walter Gretzky golf tournament, dinner, and
auction which raised over $50,000 for the CNIB. In 2009 the charity Brian
supported was awareness for Autism. The campaign kicked off in Pamplona,
Spain where Brian ran with the bulls. It continued in October with the “Amazing
Race for Autism” where Brian attempted to complete an ultra marathon,
250KM in six days across the Sahara dessert in Egypt. The goal of the race was to raise awareness for the
environment and promote the gala dinner “Oscars for Autism."
In 2010, Brian spent a week homeless, on the streets of Fredericton and embarked on a second race across, this
time, the Gobi Desert to raise money and awareness for the Fredericton Boys and Girls Club. Since then, he has done
two more races - the Atacama Desert in Chile and the Wadi Rum/Petra Desert in Jordon - raising much needed funds
for smart boards for Royal Road Elementary and the Gaia project.
In 2013, Brian’s causes in partnership with TD were sponsoring the “Lets get
Frank on Homelessness” raising close to $200,000 to end Homelessness in
Fredericton. Brian also sponsored over 20 underprivileged children to attend
the Calithumpians summer camp, and is a Knight of the Round Table for the
Duke of Edinburgh Award. Brian has raised well over to $500,000 for local
charities through his fundraising in particular children’s causes, education and
awareness.
In 2014/2015, Brian's focus has been raising money for the UNB Clinic for the homeless, literacy, and the DECH. On
a personal/professional note, he was named as 1 of 7 finalists for Portfolio Manager of the Year in Canada award.
Unfortunately, he did not win, but it was nice for him to be recognized. Brian has also just graduated from the
Authentic Leadership Program at Harvard University. “…make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do
things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt. So many people live within
unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of
security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more
damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion
for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an
endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your
inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But once
you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.” ― Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild
