#4 Malibu Mandate

#1 Last Endeavor

#3 Awesome Yet Again

#5 Grand Gizmo

#4 MALIBU MANDATE returns as a gelding after vet

scratching from an OS/$40,000 race on July 26. He

showed some speed on July 5 but flattened out after

racing wide; the drop should help. #1 LAST ENDEAVOR

debuted for this price 13 days ago, giving way late when

finishing second behind More Savvy, a filly. He figures to

show some speed again. #3 AWESOME YET AGAIN

worked evenly out of the gate with No Exit, a stablemate

with racing experience, on August 29. The breeding

suggests more distance will be ideal, although half

brother Stormy Soul was a juvenile sprint winner in his

second attempt. #5 GRAND GIZMO was a very well-

beaten fourth on debut with an inflated-looking Beyer. He

could improve second time out.

Race 2

#8 Boscobel - Best Bet

#4 Trickeration

#1 What’s the Rush

#2 D’s Mulligan

#8 BOSCOBEL ran deceptively well when finishing

seventh in a synthetic sprint for $25,000 on July 16. She

shortens back up and plunges in for $5,000 after a pair of

turf routes; the blinkers are back on. #4 TRICKERATION

has been in decent enough form at Fort Erie so far this

season. Her record on the synthetic is not bad at all. #1

WHAT’S THE RUSH stalked a very slow pace and was

even in the stretch last week. She should be able to earn

a share as she drops in value. #2 D’S MULLIGAN was a

solid third at this level 15 days ago. She could round

things out.

#6 Racing in the Rain

#2 Celebratory

#5 Aim For the Sky

#4 Windchill Zar

#6 RACING IN THE RAIN made a bid in midstretch but

was outfinished by a pair of well-regarded runners when

last competing on August 16. He could he a hot pace to

chase. #2 CELEBRATORY exits a fourth place finish in

the Greenwood Stakes on turf. He has been an improved

horse this season although racing exclusively on turf;

we’ll see how he does in his return to the synthetic. #5

AIM FOR THE SKY set the pace and was just picked up

at the wire when debuting on the turf on August 9.

There’s obvious potential here but he likely won’t be

offering the 8-1 value he did on debut. #4 WINDCHILL

ZAR set the pace but tired in the stretch when kicking off

his season on August 16. He could improve in his second

start off of the bench.

Race 4

#4 Strate Remark

#6 Kissoffire (IRE)

#2 Who’s Got It

#8 Cat Zapper

#4 STRATE REMARK drops in for $5,000 for his first

start off of a $7,500 claim on August 2. The back-classy

Western Canadian import has fared well since arriving at

Woodbine and should fit well with this group. #6

KISSOFFIRE (IRE) had two impressive wins against

conditioned company to kick off his season. He tried a

two-turn inner turf race for his first start against wide-open

foes and was a non-factor; he should appreciate getting

back to a main track sprint. #2 WHO’S GOT IT had a very

narrow loss to Bold Animaux on the Fort Erie turf on July

7 but has disappointed in two local starts since. He cuts

back to a sprint and adds blinkers. #8 CAT ZAPPER was

under a hold for much of the race when last competing in

the same inner turf race Kissoffire exits, showing finishing

interest in the end. Veteran gelding had a decent third at

this level two back.

Race 5

#2 Finest Jewel

#7 Sararenda

#1 Stormy Vision

#8 Twick

#2 FINEST JEWEL has made eight starts in two turn turf

races and now tries something different for the first time,

a synthetic sprint. She raced between foes and angled

wide when beaten by a ground-saving foe last time. #7

SARARENDA dueled with Stormy Vision on the inner turf

last time, giving way to be seventh but beaten only two

and a half lengths. She broke her maiden in a synthetic

sprint in the start prior. #1 STORMY VISION dueled with

Sararenda while racing two wide on August 6, finishing a

game third. Although her maiden win came on this

surface and at this distance she doesn’t seem nearly as

suited to it as she does a turf route. #8 TWICK broke

poorly then rallied under hard riding to be fifth in the same

August 6 turf race that the top three selections exit.

Lightly-raced filly broke her maiden against a very soft

group on debut.

Race 6

#5 Go Gigi Go Gigi Go

#6 Storm Gauge

#8 Grateful Praise

#7 Podgora

#5 GO GIGI GO GIG GO was able to finish best to break

her maiden for this price on July 16, then was a bit flat in

a solid OS/$40,000 non-two 10 days later. She looks

competitive dropping back in for this price after a near-six

week freshening. #6 STORM GAUGE had significant

traffic on the turn before finishing well in her last start on

July 23. She isn’t void of ability but hasn’t had much luck

this year; worth a look. #8 GRATEFUL PRAISE will likely

be tracking Classy N’ Silent in the early stages. Her local

debut on July 10 was a solid effort with a wide trip. #7

PODGORA was likely the best horse on July 10 but lost

her momentum at the top of the stretch before coming

back on. She has been a bad actor in the gate in her two

most recent efforts; she fits with this group but watch her

behaviour if you’re considering a wager.

Race 7

#2 Peace Seeker

#8 Grand Mesa

#1 Close Image

#3 No Mo Temper

#2 PEACE SEEKER had a very good third behind

eventual Woodbine Oaks runner-up Alfeet Katherine on

July 25, then returned with an even effort 13 days later.

She ran a very good third in a 10 furlong race last year.

#8 GRAND MESA exits a third place finish, a head better

than Peace Seeker on August 7. Her only turf start was

her first start off of the bench last year; she seems like a

grinding type who could handle longer distances. #1

CLOSE IMAGE ran a credible second behind Alkeline on

the inner turf on July 16, then returned on August 22 with

a midpack effort in a first level allowance. This group

looks easier than the last one she faced. #3 NO MO

TEMPER had some trouble entering the first turn at

Saratoga last time but never fired whatsoever. Her prior

effort at Belmont was a decent fourth.

Race 8

#8 Slip Kid

#4 Epilogue

#6 Crawl From the Bar

#2 R U Watchingbud

#8 SLIP KID rallied for a win on turf on July 26, then had

a wide trip and didn’t fire two weeks later. He is at his

best on the synthetic and should fare well here. #4

EPILOGUE had an okay midpack run in a tough first level

allowance on this surface when kicking off his season on

July 4 but has had two wide trips on turf since. He takes a

drop in for $10,000 and could rebound.#6 CRAWL FROM

THE BAR dropped in for $10,000 on July 10, was claimed

back by previous connections and now returns at the

same level as a first time gelding. He has had some okay

efforts against solid foes. #2 R U WATCHINGBUD was a

well-beaten third behind a solid sprinter Diddley last time

out. If he can run back to his first effort of the season he

could be a serious threat.

Race 9

#10 Flashymeister

#11 Am Prepared

#1 Itstartswithadrink

#8 Lauderdale

#7 Cheek to Cheek

#10 FLASHYMEISTER was beaten three lengths by The

Boss Factor, who was the controlling speed on August

16. He should be tough as he drops in from $23,500 in for

$10,000. #11 AM PREPARED had a series of wide trips

on the inner turf, then ran a good second in a wide open

$7,500 on August 21. He rises in value but gets in easier

as he faces non-threes. #1 ITSTARTSWITHADRINK

finished fourth on the main track on August 21, an

improvement from his first two starts of the season. He is

a long time between wins but he can pop and be

competitive on the right day. #8 LAUDERDALE had a

wide trip on the inner turf on August 7 then rebounded

with a good second on the main track two weeks later. #7

CHEEK TO CHEEK adds blinkers after an even sixth on

the inner turf on August 7. His prior effort was puzzlingly

bad but he ran very well in his season opener.
