oddball spices or herbs in the background.

DubbelA rich malty beer with some spicy

characteristics. Lighter than Belgium Strong Ale. Mild hop bitterness with

no lingering hop flavor.

Ommegang Abbey Ale (Bottle)Brewery Ommegang, NY Rated World-Class! Light sweet and spicy, toffee, caramel, vanilla. Very smooth aftertaste. Surprisingly light for and ale with so much flavor. A great American Belgium! One of my favorites. ABV: 8.2% 8

Chimay Red (Bottle)Bieres de Chimay(Abbaye Norte Dame de Scourmont) A Trappist Ale with a sweet and strong taste that has a slightly apricot like aroma from the fermentation. ABV: 7% 9

The Sixed Glass (Bottle) Boulevard Brewing, Kansas City, MORated 100 on Beer Advocate. Their Quadrupel Ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As good a Quad as I have ever had.ABV: 10.5% 8

Belgian Strong Dark AleHigher in alcohol, more of an all

around character than the Dark Ale. Complex but a delicate palate. Spicy

and alcoholic and great to drink.

Mama’s Little Yella Pils, (Can)Oscar Blues Brewery, Lyons, COSmall - batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czech Republic famous. Unlike mass market it is made with 100% pale malt, German specialty malts and Bavarian hops. Great session beer.ABV: 5.3% 6.75

Pilsner Urquell, (Bottle) Czech Republic The Original, it is somewhat heavier (with an almost ale-like fruitiness in the malt body) and more strongly hopped. ABV: 4.4% 7

Little Bo Pils (Draft)Smog City Brewing, Torrance, CA This unfiltered pale lager is all about subtlety and balance. Expect a delicate spice, a touch of honey, and rustic white bread in the nose.
