Presentation: Loving Your Job...and Getting Others to do Likewise!
One of the great keys to successful projects is team engagement, enthusiasm and attitude. And while that's a very personal thing, it's also something that we, as project managers (and team members, for that matter) have an extraordinary level of influence on. We can build enthusiasm or crush it like a grape. To succeed, enthusiasm and a positive attitude must be honest. And in a "first things first" perspective, Carl Pritchard examines how we can make our jobs more positive, even when they're not the ideal. He'll look at how project management can naturally feed an infectious, positive attitude, given the opportunity. And by the time you log off, you'll have three specific things you should be doing tomorrow (and a couple you're already doing) that will provide you and your team with a higher sense of hope and promise for the days ahead.
Speaker: Carl Pritchard, PMP, PMI-RMP, EVP
Carl is a lecturer, author and thought leader in project management and risk management. He is the author of 7 books, including the Project Management Communication Tool Kit, 2nd Edition. He was the lead chapter author for the Risk Management chapter of PMBOK 4th Edition, serves as the US Correspondent for Project Manager Today (UK), and sits on the board of directors of ProjectConnections.com. He has lectured around the world, and is considered one of the "fun guys" of project management. He co-produced The Portable PMP Prep, an audio series soon to be released in its PMBOK6 edition.
Parking: Use the parking garage off Market Street, decks 3 and above to avoid a fee, and take elevator to The Westin lobby on the ground floor.
Registration and the cash bar opens at 5:30 PM with time to network with colleagues and learn about one another in our regional professional organization.
A plated dinner will begin between 6:15 and 6:30 PM with some brief chapter business and introductions. Menu: chicken entrée, starch and vegetable, salad, bread and dessert. Coffee, tea and water.
***Vegetarian and special meals due to dietary restrictions will be available upon request by noting your preference in the Special Instructions and Comments block while registering. These meals cannot be guaranteed if member or guest does not register at least one week prior to the meeting.***
At approximately 7 PM we will turn our focus to the featured presentation.

Last Word
The Hampton Roads Engineering Societies Calendar is a free e-mail calendar of engineering society events for the Hampton Roads area. It is open to the public and all societies are invited to advertise their events.
Any society may send in announcements (monthly meetings, EXCOMs, conferences, …) for distribution. They can be as color-ful as you wish. I accept most any format. Announcements are distributed via email each month in PDF (a link to the down-load file) and ASCII/text formats. PDF files allow for ruffles and flourishes, such as society logos, banners, et al. I can convert the essential details of an announcement for the text version of calendar. Please forward your society’s announcement to me by the 20th of the month and include contact information for your fellow engineer and in case I have questions.
List members receive a monthly text-only e-mail calendar of events. The latest PDF version of this file is available on the Pen-insula Engineers Council website http://www.va-pec.org/events/HREE_calendar.pdf. Send an email to [email protected] if you desire to be notified when new PDF versions are available.
Calendar users can:
* Join the list by sending a blank e-mail to [email protected] [text version], or * Receive notices when the PDF version is available by sending a message to [email protected]. .
Engineering societies are encouraged to:
* Promote the HRESC to your membership. * Update your link on the HRESC site by sending e-mail to [email protected] * Add a link from your site directing visitors to learn more about the HRESC at the PEC site
