Note that the software update fromversion 2.x.x to 2.2.10 is only applicable toHAMILTON-T1 with SNxxxx > SN3000.

CAUTION

• Make sure that the device is con-nected to an AC power source beforeyou do a software update/upgrade.

• Make sure that the mandatory back-up battery or batteries are installed inthe battery compartment and are fullycharged before you do a softwareupdate/upgrade.

• Do not turn off the device during thefirst startup after performing a soft-ware update/upgrade.

• During the first startup, the buzzerwill sound for several minutes.

• Do not turn off the device during thesoftware update. This will help pre-vent possible damage to the embed-ded system module (ESM) board.

NOTICE

• Record the ventilator settings for ref-erence. The HAMILTON-T1 ventilatorsettings are defined in the Operator'sManual Appendix, Configuration.

• Configuration settings generated withsoftware version 2.2.4 or lower arenot compatible with software version2.2.10.

• Configuration settings generated withsoftware versions 2.2.6 to 2.2.10 arecompatible with software version2.2.10.

• Configuration settings generated withsoftware version 3.0.0 or higher arenot compatible with software version2.2.10.

• A software upgrade from softwareversion 2.x.x to 2.2.10 will reset theconfigurations to their defaultsettings.

• A downgrade to a lower softwareversion is not possible.

To update from software version 2.x.x to2.2.10

The following file is required for theinstallation:

1. Touch SW update button to access theupdate page.

2. Insert the USB drive containing theupgrade versions as listed in Table 1.

NOTICE

• The software update version is shownon the display if the USB drive con-tains the correct file. If not, the mes-sage No Update Tarball File is avail-able... is shown on the display.

• Make sure that you select the correctsoftware version if the USB drive con-tains more than one software updatefile.

CAUTION

• During the installation of the softwarefrom the USB drive to the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator, some technical faultsand audible alarms can occur. Thesetechnical faults can be ignored.

• Do not tun off the device during soft-ware update process until the statusmessage shows Update successfullycompleted on the display.

NOTICE

The software installation can take up to10 minutes to complete.

3. Touch Start button to start the SWupdate. This comprises extracting, verify-ing and installing the new software.

NOTICE

A progress bar is shown to indicate thecurrent status of the software update.When the software update is completed,the status message Update successfullycompleted is shown on the display.

4. Restart the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator.

NOTICE

• The firmware update process takesapproximately 2 minutes. The buzzersounds for approximately 45 secondsand cannot be silenced.

• The firmware update is completedafter the device has restarted.

5. Restart the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator inoperational mode if the device starts up inservice software mode.

6. Restart the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator inthe service software mode.

7. Verify that the software version is now2.2.10.

Steps 8 thru 10 are only applicable toHAMILTON-T1 Mil ventilators (PN 161009)delivered with SW v < v2.2.7

NOTICE

We have introduced new part numbersfor the different blower modules in theTechnical state for SW v2.2.7. This allowsthe software to identify the differentblower module types and blower mod-ules that are NBC compatible and thosethat are not NBC compatible.

8. Change the Part No. of the blowermodule from 161170 to 161300 in theTechnical state: start the ventilator in Ser-vice software mode > touch VentilatorInfo. tab > Technical state tab > Modifytab > Part No. button, then select the cor-responding Part No. for the blowermodule. See Figure 1.

9. Touch Save button to save the Part No.for the new blower module.

10. Restart the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator inservice software mode to apply thechanges to the ventilator.

11. Perform all calibrations and tests asdescribed in the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator'sService Manual.

12. Restart the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator inthe operational mode and check the confi-guration settings and if necessary reset orimport the settings. The configurationsettings are defined in the HAMILTON-T1ventilator's Operator's Manual Appendix,Configuration.

Suctioning Tool

Ask the clinicians whether they are usingopen suctioning or closed suctioning systems.In case the hospital is using open suctioningsystems and would like to benefit from thesuctioning tool enable it by entering the Con-figuration menu (access code 7132) andentering the corresponding code under theOptions menu.

To enable or disable the PSync-PSIMV+ func-tionality, enter the Configuration menu(access code 7132), then enter the corre-sponding code under the Options menu.

The ventilator is preconfigured with an I:Eratio of 1:4 for adult/pediatric. To change theI:E ratio, enter the Configuration menu (accesscode 7132), then enter the correspondingcode under the Options menu.

To enable or disable the O2 consumptiondisplay, enter the Configuration menu (accesscode 7132), then enter the correspondingcode under the Options menu.

ASV 1.1

To enable or disable ASV 1.1, enter the Confi-guration menu (access code 7132), thenenter the corresponding code under theOptions menu.

When ASV1.1 is enabled, the user can togglebetween the standard ASV and ASV1.1 inthe Configuration menu (access code 7132)under the Modes menu.

Note that ASV 1.1 will be set as default afterthe software upgrade/update.

Adjustable HPO alarm limit

This option allows you to manually adjust theO2 alarm limits when using HPO. To enableor disable the functionality, enter the Configu-ration menu (access code 7132), then enterthe corresponding code under the Optionsmenu.

Vt/IBW monitoring

It is well established that you must closelymonitor the tidal volume per weight, espe-cially for ARDS patients. The HAMILTON-T1ventilator now offers direct monitoring of thetidal volume per IBW (adult/pediatric) or tidalvolume per weight (neonatal). To enable ordisable the functionality, enter the Configura-tion menu (access code 7132), then enter thecorresponding code under the Options menu.

To enable or disable the O2 sensor deactiva-tion memory, enter the Configuration menu(access code 7132), then enter the corre-sponding code under the Options menu.

Cflow (Hi Flow) O2 restricted (Only USA market)

CAUTION

This information is only applicable todevices sold in the USA:

• Hi flow O2 restricted ON setting is amandatory requirement in the USA.

• You must set the Hi flow O2restricted to ON for the HAMILTON-T1ventilator after initial installation or asoftware update/upgrade.

The flow is reduced to a maximum of 60 l/min. Note that there is no restrictionon the blower back pressure. The blowerhas a pressure limit of 50 cmH2O.
