Meg Douglas Hamilton was born in New York but grew up in Ireland when her family moved to the Emerald Isle at an early age. She returned to the U.S as a young woman where she joined the American team taking part in international equestrian competitions. Meg was accepted into Harvard University, one of the top academic institutions in the United States. She spent two years there before getting married and taking a sabbatical in the Far East with her husband. During her stay, Meg got involved in a variety of activities. She spent time in Japan

teaching conversational English to businessmen seeking access to US markets. Eight months were devoted to archaeological study in India, and she even explored the wilds of Borneo while writing several articles about her experience for a few magazines. All this was accomplished before she had even graduated from the university.Meg and her husband returned to the States where she resumed her studies at Harvard. When professional considerations initiated a move to our nation’s capitol, she transferred to George Washington University where she graduated.Meg’s business career includes founding three different companies, all of which have been commercially successful. Hamilton Equine Systems was her first venture which she eventually sold, followed by Hamilton-Thorne which she established in 2001 and took public in 2009. After an annual stint that averaged 30% annual growth, she stepped down as CEO to form BIO-VET, her current venture. Among Meg’s many professional accomplishments are the licensing of key technologies, the acceleration of university product development programs, and the introduction of technologies that have revolutionized stem cell and transgenic research, just to name a few. While at Hamilton-Thorne, Meg took an interest in promising young Asian woman named Lisa Ng. Meg became not only Lisa’s boss, but her friend and mentor as well. When Lisa announced her desire to move with her husband, David Ho, and family to the United States, Meg offered help and support to make this transition possible. Her assistance was instrumental in the Ho’s family American immigration and integration. Meg’s compassion, initiative, and drive are an inspiration to Lisa and David and have help form our philosophy and objectives. As a consequence, Meg has becomes a role model for not only the Ho family, but also for American Scholar employees and students.
