HALLOWEEN• Halloween is celebrated on the 31st October
• The origin of Halloween is not completely obvious, but one idea is that hundreds of years ago, the Celts (people that lived across Europe and Britain), believed the souls of the dead visited Earth on the last day of October!
• They had a festival in order to remember the soulds of the dead.
COSTUMES• It is tradition that at
Halloween, all the kids dress up in costumes of ghosts, vampires and many other scary things!
• This is especailly common in England and the United States.
TRADITIONS• In Britain, `trick or treating´, is a typical activity on the night
of Halloween.• `Trick or Treating´ is when children, dressed in Halloween
costumes, travel from house to house asking for treats (usually sweets).
• The question the kids ask, when the door is opened, is ´Trick or Treat?`
FOOD• A famous food eaten at
Halloween, especially in Britain, is the toffee apple.
• Toffee apples, are just normal apples but covered in a sugar sauce, with a stick through the middle - used as a handle.
