For many its The Honeymoon PeriodWe all experience setting a big goal that really pumps us up, we start strong, and then fade out.

Why do our best intentions sometimes fail?

How can we be sure not to fail this time?

A big reason people fail at reaching their goals6

Reason why I know I have failed in the past

I didnt have a strong whyToo Many, Too Tough, Too SoonToo RigidToo VagueNo MeasurementNo AccountabilityThe Opposite of what we call S.M.A.R.T. goals

Step One - Discovering Your WhyThe WHY is more important than the HOW.Does your why make you cry?

When it comes to reaching a goal why is more important than how. Its too hard to reach a goal that is not powered by a strong why.Ryan Urbach best example9

Step One - Discovering Your WhyRyan UrbachSame goal year after yearWho is going to teach Carter to hunt?

Ryan lose weight always starts strong this year is different.10

Discovering Your Why - Success Story

Gs goals from 2005 his whys were about Maureen, having a family, helping his Mom and Dad, and its in writing!11

Easy to be grateful for me when I remember where Ive been- I was one lived in my little sisters basement so I really love my house13

Step Four - Your Balance SheetImbalance = Disaster

Wheel of Life Chart Accounts

By Ranking where you are in key areas identify where you need to focus goal is a round wheel14

Ideas to Keep in Mind

You dont want to end up like this..

Life without balance can cost you your relationships health spirituality wealth happiness. So find things to motivate you from all areas of life. 15

Or this..

16

Step Five - The Grand Design1st - Have fun, no limits and dream big! No, dream bigger! Read The Magic of Thinking Big

Now, narrow your dreams down to your top 10.

Finally, narrow them down even further to the top 3. The Essential Few.

Key is have fun and dream BIG - and then narrow the focus- the book walks you through the steps.17

Ideas to Keep in MindYour focus should be on 3 goals. Not 100 goals, or even 10 goals. The Vital Few!

If you have more than three strategic priorities, you dont have any. -Jim Collins

18

Step Five - The Grand DesignNow make sure those 3 Goals are SMART. SMART= Specific= Measurable= Attainable= Relevant= Time Sensitive

Lets go through these one by one19

Step Five - The Grand DesignCreate a goal that is SPECIFIC.

Not I want to be Debt Free

Specify exactly what you will do: I will shred my credit cards and pay off $27,000 in credit card debt by 3/31/15.

20

Step Five - The Grand DesignCreate a goal that is MEASURABLE.

Milestones and deadlines...

In your goal, include what will be measured: I will lose 25 pounds by..and I will do this by losing 2 lbs. a week for 12.5 weeks.

21

Step Five - The Grand DesignCreate a goal that is ATTAINABLE.

You cant lose 25 lbs. this week.

We over estimate what we can do in the short termWe under estimate what we can do in the long term

22

Step Five - The Grand DesignCreate a goal that is RELEVANT.

Does your goal match your core values, your mission and vision for your life? Is it really important to you?

Be sure to choose something that will improve your life and help you become the best you possible.

23

Step Five - The Grand DesignCreate a goal that is TIME SENSITIVE.

Its got to have deadline!

A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline. Harvey MacKay

24

Step Six - The Magic FactorKeep Start - Stop

Identify existing healthy habits, disciplines or behaviors I need to expand.

Identify poor habits or behaviors I need to stop

Create 3 modifications and how I will implement these into my daily routine

25

Step Six - The Magic FactorThe magic comes from becoming the person you need to be in order to attract the people or results you wish to meet or achieve. Its less about What do I need to do and more about

Who do I need to become?

What new habits, routines and behaviors do I need to start?

26

Weekly Rhythm Register

My routines for this Goal - 165 Lbs. by 2/15/15, 80 OZ H20, No Sugar Crap, portions ( I Love my food- Taco Bell) 6 workouts a week.Describe my morning Routine to make this happen.Make it hard to do what I dont want to do, and easy to do what I know I have to do.

2nd - 23 LOS BY 12/1/15 (11 MORE THAN WE HAVE NOW) averaging 5 units a month 1st 3 by 4/30/15 Milestone27

Step Eight - Take ActionWhat you will do in the next 24 hours? What you will do in the next 30 days? Why is this important to start now? Mo

28

How I used this process to quit.

Started at 14, I must have quit 10 times over those years. I knew it could kill me, Id seen all the gross picturesso why did I fail at it over and over and over? Read the story tie it back to SMART goals- and written down.29
