HFCL is a Shariah-based non-banking financial institution, It obtainedits license in September 2006

The company is jointly owned by Malaysian-Kuwaiti interest andDhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), a highly regarded NGO inBangladesh.

It follows the model of Malaysias pilgrims fund and managementinstitution, popularly known as TABUNG HAJJI which focuses on

mobilizing savings from would-be pilgrims who intend to perform hajjin the Holly Land. It invests its excess fund in Sharia-based activities.
