Now you can stimulate long unconsolidated
production intervals with a frac pack that uses
high pumping rates and large proppant volumes to
achieve optimum stimulation. Halliburtons
FracPac fracturing treatment systems provide
the downhole equipment, fluids, and expertise to
enable large volume, high-rate frac-pack
treatments over long intervals at greater depths.
Only Halliburton can provide a full range of
services for installing high rate frac-pack
completions at extreme depths as demonstrated
with successful installations in the Gulf of Mexico
and West Africa.
Previously with the use of conventional sand
control tool technology, operators were forced to
break the producing interval into multiple
independent zones and then complete them
separately. This process is not only expensive; it
eliminates access to the parts of the zone where
completion hardware is located.
FracPac Systems at a Glance
Halliburtons FracPac services include a fit-for-
purpose suite of tools and fluids that can deliver
economical and optimum results for operators of
marginal reservoirs (approximately 500 bar-
rels/day), highly prolific reservoirs (up to 50,000
BOE/day), and constrained-ID wells. These
FracPac solutions have been applied to deepwater
and ultra-deepwater reservoirs and have delivered
unprecedented successes resulting in
record-breaking wells.
Four performance levels are available:
Standard gravel-pack and high-rate
water-pack tools + standard fluids
FracPac tools + DeepQuest fluid
Red Zone FracPac tools + DeepQuest fluid
Beyond Red Zone FracPac tools + DeepQuest flu
FracPac Tools
Operators with shorter producing zones needing
sand control and fracture stimulation of lengths
ranging to 150 feet require less pump rate and
proppant volume and will benefit most fromFracPac tools combined with DeepQuest weighted
fracturing fluid.
The FracPac system features a patented carbide
crossover that is designed to deliver optimum
longevity during the frac-packing operation,
enabling the creation of adequate fracture lengths t
achieve the desired production results. In effect, th
carbide crossover design protects the service tool
and external casing against erosion allowing
placement of a low skin FracPac treatment.
Red Zone FracPac Tools
Operators with wells with longer zone lengths that
require larger proppant volumes and higher pump
rates to achieve larger fracture lengths and widths
will benefit most from Red Zone FracPac tools
combined with DeepQuest fluid. Red Zone FracPa

service enables ultra-high-rate placement of large
proppant volumes over a long interval. In
addition, wells with a smaller than planned casing
size can achieve the optimum stimulation rate.
The Red Zone tool uses the
same patented carbide
crossover design plus an
erosion-resistant upper
extension to protect critical
parts in the proppant-
laden flow path. Because
abrasion is concentrated
and diffused through thecrossover and against the
upper extension, higher
rates and proppant
volumes are achieved. Field
experience has shown that
volumes up to 1.2 million
pounds of proppant at
pumping rates exceeding
60 barrels per minute can
be placed safely and with-
out incident through large
bore FracPac tools.
Advanced flow-modeling software is used to
perform extensive flow analysis during the
equipment design phase. This analysis enables the
design to most accurately predict final results and
to fine-tune the tools to optimize performance.
Beyond Red Zone FracPac Tools
Ultra-deepwater developments (wells of more
than 25,000 ft in 5,000 ft plus water depth)
require high production rates, high reliability,
and minimal or no well intervention to achieve
economic viability. These are tough challenges.
Building on the success of the Red Zone FracPac
tools, the Beyond Red Zone system excels in
extreme applications, achieving the highest
pump rates and largest proppant volumes in the
industry. Combined with DeepQuest high
density fracturing fluid, treatments can be
placed at surface pressures below 15,000 psi
staying within pressure limitation of flexible
surface lines. The combination of DeepQuest
fluid and Beyond Red Zone tools allows
effective well treatments in extreme well
conditions. In addition, Beyond Red Zone tools
can yield optimum fractures in smaller or
constrained casing sizes, using smaller tool sizes
but still delivering the highest stimulation rates
and largest proppant volumes in the industry.
Beyond Red Zone FracPac tools incorporate
Halliburtons extensive lessons learned from
actual physical testing and numerous case
histories of high rate and high volume FracPac
treatments.

DeepQuest Fluid
To obtain the benefits of optimum fracture geometry, high
pump rates can be achieved in restricted well bores with
DeepQuest weighted fracturing fluid. High bottomhole
pressure environments also benefit greatly from the use of
DeepQuest fluid.
Employed effectively with any of the FracPac tools, DeepQuest
weighted stimulation fluid can help achieve the bottomhole
treatment pressure needed for ultra-deepwater fracturing
operations. To achieve the maximum fracture and effectivesand control, economics dictate running fracture operations
from a vessel, but flexible hoses are limited to 15,000 psi.
Furthermore, in ultra-deep reservoirs, 15,000 psi may not be
enough pressure to produce the fracture needed.
DeepQuestSM services employ a weighted fluid to take advan-
tage of the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid column to achieve
the required treating pressure at extreme depths. DeepQuest
high-density fluids alone can lower the required treatment
pressures by approximately 3,000 psi, delivering a
make-or-break factor that has already yielded successful
results in the world's deepest wells.

HALLIBURTON
DeepQuest services are the natural culmination of the
deepwater experience and expertise of Halliburton.
Globally, the company has collaborated on more than
70% of all deepwater completions and 90% of all deepwater
wells drilled. Halliburton holds records for the highest
frac-pack treatment rate, the deepest frac-pack treatment,
the first horizontal deepwater gravel-pack treatment in the
Gulf of Mexico, the first vessel-based stimulation in off-
shore West Africa and the first two vessel-based frac-packtreatments in the world. Halliburton stimulation vessels
are globally deployed in the Gulf of Mexico, the Middle
East and West Africa.
