Anointing/Covid 19

In the days and weeks to come, if you test positive for the COVID virus, and they send you home for quarantine, and it gets worse and you need to go back to the hospital, GET ANOINTED/GO

TO CONFESSION BEFORE GOING BACK TO THE HOSPITAL as you very well might not be able to see a priest in the hospital. And also be prepared; as soon as you register at the

hospital, communicate that you want a priest if you become actively dying and make sure every doctor you have knows this and get a POSITIVE RESPONSE that you are being listened to. If they give you trouble, let the priests know please right away.

Also make sure your Power of Attorney knows this. Realize this might mean you have to choose between having a loved one in

the room or a priest at the time of death.

Interview with Cardinal Sarah In an April 9 interview, the Guinean cardinal, Sarah, who is a prefect for the Vatican's Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments... said he believed many priests had rediscovered their vocation to prayer amid the COVID-19 pandemic... "in adoration, they can intercede for each one," he said, adding that he hoped the sick and isolated would feel connected to their priests through prayer. Sarah also encouraged people living under lock down to rediscover family prayer. "It is time for fathers to learn how to bless their children. Christians, deprived of the Eucharist, realize how much Communion was a grace for them. I encourage them to practice adoration from home, because there is no Christian life without sacramental life." https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/ coronavirus-victims-have-inalienable-right-to-priests-help- says-cardinal-sarah-74704

First Sacrament's MeetingThe last mandatory meeting of the year will be on

Wednesday, April 29th at 6 pm via Zoom. At least one parent and the child must tune in.

St. Vincent de PaulSVDP is asking if you would keep in mind the needs of theTraverse City store. Their Catholic outreach and service to

the poor of the TC community spans years and at this time of the year their offerings to the poor are sparse. Please consider

donating unwanted furniture, clothing, and kitchen items. John Hitt, Holy Rosary parishioner, 810-730-7013 has offered

the use of his time, truck and trailer to deliver items to St. Vincent's. Please call him to coordinate

delivery/pickup of items.

We were fortunate as a family to see the ?Passion of the Christ? by Mel Gibson when it first came out in 2004. Many of you saw this movie and will recall the gruesome details of Jesus? suffering and death by crucifixion. After we got home, I noticed my son Michael, who was 15 at the time, deep in thought. When I asked him what was bothering him, he replied, ?Did Jesus know that many people would reject His great gift of giving His life for their salvation??. I was amazed at the depth of his understanding of this critical dilemma. Jesus had given everything He possibly could give and yet there would be some who would indeed reject this incomparable gift. ?Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends?!(John 15:3)

In the revelations that were received by St. Faustina, we hear that Jesus grieves tremendously over the loss of souls in spite of His passion and death. It is because of this, that He has desired a special day to celebrate His Divine Mercy. On the Sunday following His resurrection, He opens the f loodgates of His mercy and offers complete forgiveness of sin and punishment if a person were to go to communion and confession on that day. This is even greater than a plenary indulgence. Even the most hardened sinners can be offered this great mercy. Mercy truly triumphs over justice! In her diary, St. Faustina relates one of the promises that Jesus gave her: ?on that day, the very depths of my tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fountain of my mercy.?

At the end of the chaplet of Divine Mercy we pray three times ?Jesus I trust in you?. As we find ourselves now in difficult moments, our trust is challenged. It is easy to trust when we are surrounded by peace and we have the security of our family, our home, our job, our income and food is plentiful on the table. When we find these things lacking, we have to question how much we really trust in Jesus.

There is a beautiful and touching story of a man who tells of traveling by airplane. During the course of the f light, the pilot?s voice came over the intercom and told everyone to be prepared for some turbulence. Shortly thereafter there were crashes of thunder, f lashes of lightning, and the plane began to bounce around like a rubber ball. It was more than a little turbulence! In the terrible commotion that occurred, the man looked around and found other passengers frantically gripping their seats and clutching for their things. Apprehension was on every face. Expressions of terror were on many. As he surveyed the mayhem, he was completely surprised and amazed by one little girl, who throughout the several moments of this harrowing ride in the storm, sat quietly with her legs crossed reading a book. She was completely at peace and never looked up as she read. Later when the man was getting off the plane he happened to encounter the little girl and so stopped to ask her how she was able to seemingly not even notice the terrible storm. She was quick to answer. ?The pilot is my father and he is taking me home?.

For so many the current era is such a time of great turbulence. Our world is being tossed about like a rubber ball. We can feel so alone and so helpless. The trust being asked of us is unparalleled. The trust that we need at this moment is the trust that was so clearly displayed by the little girl as she felt the security of her father piloting the plane leading her home.

The revelation that was given to St. Faustina regarding this great feast of mercy is clear. Jesus? mercy is endless and His treasury of compassion is inexhaustible. Like the thief on the cross we too can display perfect trust in the mercy of God and say, ?Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom?. We need such trust; a trust that we will be cared for in this time of phenomenal turbulence, but also a trust that these difficult moments are our special God given crosses. Through them our pilot Jesus leads us home to His Father. So with great confidence we can submit ourselves to His holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. We can tell Him without hesitation, ?Jesus, I trust in you?.

The Last Sunday of July?

Well, we just don?t know yet. I wanted to let everyone know it is definitely on our radar as to whether to have the chicken dinner or not, or maybe do it later, or? ? Jan says we?ll need to decide at the latest by the end of June. Definitely we?ll have a better feel in a month or so, and there?s really no point in worrying about it now--too many variables. Maybe some modified version if gatherings are still looking to be dangerous by then? Maybe take out only, or ?bring your own table? and sit together as a family outside? Perhaps ?bingo in the field with your own lawn chair?? It?d be fun and a good shot in the arm for us all I?m sure to be able to at least do something, as long as we can do it safely. Stay tuned...and pray. Thanks to all of you who have been sacrificially generous during this time and keep that online giving coming if/as you can...

Thanks to all who helped with the Divine Mercy Sunday presentation, Deacon Wigton, Boyd, et al. One thing we?re running into is having another person to help run the sound board. Larry Petroskey has been heroically carrying that load by himself. If we could train one or two other people to help with this it would be great. Let me know if you could do that/would be willing as a back up?

God bless,

Fr. Libby

Other Notes From Fr. L ibby*No matter what else happens, we'll still be doing our

raff le (even if we need to draw the ticket live stream). As always, we need your help with the prizes, but this year,

I'm willing to donate a pay period of my salary to the prizemoney if others come through doing their part...

A big thanks to Joan and Shirley for all of their work on this once again. It is a huge financial shot in the arm for

the parish. God bless.
