DIRECTIONS TO THE HOPKINTON STATE FAIRGROUNDS

From Massachusetts Take I-93 North, to I-89 North. Take Exit 7. Follow signs to Fairgrounds (Route 103).

PLEASE NOTE: Use Yellow Gate for ALL Horse Shows.

Due to limited parking in the horse show area, priority is given to vehicles towing horse trailers and/or wagons.

RULES AND REGULATIONS The Management reserves the right to vary or change officials or judges, if necessary. The Management will not be responsible for any accident that may occur to any animal exhibited at the show. The Management reserves to itself the right of declining any entry and to return the entrance fee, before the opening of the show, without being liable for compensation. The Management reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide any class if entries warrant. No person will be allowed in the ring during the time of judging except those having duties to perform. No exhibitor shall approach a judge with regard to a decision or other matters unless he/she first obtains permission from the Show Steward. Any exhibitor disregarding this rule may be asked to cancel all entries and forfeit entry fees. This show will be conducted under the rules of the New England Horsemen’s Council, The New Hampshire Horse & Trail Association, New Hampshire 4-H Rules and the Granite State Appaloosa Association. In all classes open to registered animals only, the proper registered name and number must be listed on the entry blank and owners must be prepared to show registration papers to the Show Steward.

All horses must be accompanied by evidence of a negative Coggins Test. With the rabies in wildlife becoming an endemic problem in this state, it is highly recommended by the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture and is required by the Hopkinton State Fair that exhibitors have Proof of Veterinarian Administered immunization on their horses for rabies within the current year, but at least 30 days prior to the fair.

FEES Gymkhana - $15.00 per horse/pony in Jr./Sr. divisions and $10.00 per horse/pony in walk/trot division. High Cash Classes are $25.00 per class. Pre-Entries are preferred but are also accepted the day of the show. 4-H Day – NO FEE - 2 Mandatory Classes and 2 Choice Classes. Must send 4-H approval form with entry. 4-H Classes will be awarded on the Danish System. Fun classes will have 6-placings.

Entries close August 29, 2017. Open Horse Show - The entry fee for Trophy Class is $15.00, Premium Classes $20.00, Championship Classes $25.00. There will also be a N.H.H. & T.A. charge of $3.00 per horse for the first class entered. Pre-Entries are preferred but are also accepted the day of the show. Any check returned for “Insufficient Funds” will be charged a $25.00 collection fee. Cancellation after the official start of the show will mean forfeiture of Entry Fees, except in the case of an accident to the horse or rider. Veterinarian or doctor’s certificate is required. Six places will be pinned in all classes. N.H.H. & T. A. will support the USEF and NEHC and/or any affiliated state organization in any disciplinary action against exhibitors which involve sportsmanship or good conduct of shows or indebtedness and will extend these actions to all N.H.H. & T. A. affiliated shows. Classes must be paid for in advance or a signed, blank check must be left with the Show Secretary.

Gymkhana Entry fees are $15.00 per horse/pony and $5.00 for Walk Trot/Jog . High Cash Entry fees are $25.00 per class. Pre-entries are preferred, however entries day of the show will be accepted NHH&TA Fee $3.00 per horse Six ribbons will be awarded in all classes. All decisions of the officials are final. Patterns will be posted the day of the show. Prize money will be awarded in the Show Ring. Management will not be responsible for prize money after award has been made. Walk Trot Division – 12 years and under (not eligible to enter any class where canter/lope is permitted) Junior Division – 17 years and under Senior Division – 18 years and Over

Gymkhana Rules and Regulations

1. We abide by NHH&TA Rules. Walk Trot division is Non-Pointed 2. Proper footwear (boots with a 1 inch heel) is mandatory. Running

shoes/sneakers are not permitted, juniors/walk trot must wear a helmet and appropriate attire is mandatory.

3. Unsportsmanlike behavior or cruelty to animals will not be tolerated. You will be expelled from Fairgrounds without a refund. Any horse/rider/handler being unruly and/or out of control will be asked to leave Fairgrounds.

4. Show Management and/or judges decisions are final. 5. The horse must enter the ring unassisted. The horse must start from inside

the ring and the gate must be closed before the horse starts. The gate must remain closed and the horse to come to a halt inside the ring before the gate is opened again. A rider may lead his/her horse from the ring.

6. Classes must be paid in full or leave blank check at secretary’s booth before entering the class.

7. No Refunds. 8. All warm up must be done in designated area.

Every entry at the Recognized Show shall constitute an agreement that the person making it, owner, lessee, trainer, manager, Agent, coach, driver, rider and the horse shall be subject to the constitution and rules of the NEHC and the NHH&TA and the local rules of the show. It shall further constitute that every horse, rider and/or driver is eligible as entered and that the owner and any of his representatives are bound by the constitution and rules of the NEHC, and the NHH&TA, and the show, accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under said rules and agree to hold the show, the NEHC and the NHH&TA, their officials, directors and employees harmless for any action. I entered the above listed horses at my own risk and I agree to make no claims against the Hopkinton State Fair Horse Show if any damage, injury or loss be incurred. I agree to pay the sum of $100.00 as and for liquidation damages if animals, which I exhibited, are suffering from any contagious or infectious disease.
