Antec Kuhler H2O 620Afraid that water-cooling might be a hassle? Antec’s

Kuhler setup is a self-contained unit and requires no

maintenance at all. Even on a small casing like the

GX 700, this CPU cooling system fits nicely as you

can see.

Antec High Current Gamer

620W Power SupplyAt price per watt, the High Current Gamer 620watt PSU

is a very competitive power source. While I would not

recommend using this to power a GTX 680 like we are

currently doing, it is good enough to power up mid-range

graphic cards like the GTX 660.

Antec GX 700 CasingLight. Affordable. The GX 700

was designed by Antec to be a

gaming casing for most gamers.

The army-styled color finishes

gives the impression that you

mean business. Despite its small

form, the casing is able to house

a full length graphic card like the

GTX 680.

Antec’s winning formula for GamersMeet Antec’s GX 700, Kuhler H20 and 620 PSU

When the GX 700 appeared for the first time, it felt like all the pieces fell in place. The GX Team had to review Antec’s GX 700 and here we have a fully built system that boasts simple water-cooling and a decent 620w PSU that’s able to power a GTX 680. Special thanks go out to Antec and Convergent Systems for providing us most of the parts.

Antec GX 700 ReviewPrice: $99

For the longest time, Antec has been known to create a wide variety of cases. These include standard towers, full-sized behemoths and other unique ones like the HTPC. This time they are introducing a budget gaming PC it is not black in color this time.

The GX700 is a military-green gaming case that has this super cool red switch that looks like a missile launch button. At first glance I was hoping for that to be the on/off button, but was slightly disappointed to learn that it is the fan control.

So other than a few shades of green, the main construction of the front is plastic. The intake cover and drive bays are all metal. This makes the case rather durable, while staying relatively light. The drive bays have a quick release design for to install drives easily.

The case measures 500x200x450mm and weighs only 6.26kg. A large exhaust vent is found on top and can gold 240mm radiators should you wish to do some water cooling. In the front, you’ll find 2 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio and a fan controller with cover.Behind, there are two tubing holes and the PSU location at the bottom of the case. The side stays simplistic with a single 12cm fan location. Finally 4 thumbscrews secure the panels in place. Be watchful though, these panels seem to bend easily.

Inside, the case is constructed from 0.6mm SECC. For cabling, Antec provides four fan headers for the controller,

a Molex to power it, H audio, USB 2.0 and 3.0, and front panel connectors. At the base, four small feet raises the PSU off the surface so it blasts out dust from beneath. Be advised that front intake fans are not pre-installed at the factory.Tool free brackets are installed on the 5.25” bays and beneath you’ll find five drive bays for hard-disks and solid-state drives.

Installing the mainboard was a very standard process and the chassis supports from Mini-ITX all the way to ATX. Various holes in the motherboard allows one to run wiring behind the board so you get some good wire management options.

The GX700 looks sturdy and its lightweight is a definite boon for those who are looking for an easy to carry chassis. One of the things I notice was how the locals here seem to be put off by the military green theme. To that I say, it is a small price to pay for having a very functional casing at a really good price of $99.

Antec Kuhler H2O 620 CPU Cooler ReviewPrice: $89

This is a sealed liquid CPU cooling system that requires no maintenance. You do not need to change the water or tighten any of the cables. Just a quick trivia, this cooler is manufactured by Asetek, who is also the maker for the Corsair H70. However, they are not the same product so do not be fooled.

Right out of the box you get a premounted and sealed block-pump-hoses-radiator system, a 120mm fan, and manual and installation hardware. The base of the block is made of copper and already has thermal paste applied. Two cables on the block connect to the motherboard and the radiator fan. They work to power the cooling system and provide power to the other radiator fan.

The radiator must be installed at a 120mm fan opening so that means the rear of the case. You’ll realise that the cable on the other 120mm fan is really short so remember that you should connect it to the block wire, NOT your motherboard. There are two clips to install the Kuhler H2O. One is meant for AMD chipsets and the other for Intel CPUs. Make sure you get the correct clip so you do not frustrate yourself with adjusting it only to realise it is the wrong clip. That actually happened to us because we were too excited and forget to read the label.

One of the reasons to like this cooling is how clean the installation is, and it only takes up a relatively small space in your casing, despite having a radiator to install. Room

temperature surrounding the chip stayed around 40 degrees Celsius even at full load. That’s about 50 degrees down from the usual 90 degerees Celsius. For a watercooling system, this can be either a good or bad thing. My conclusion? While we normally would go for watercooling to get extremely low temperatures, Antec’s Kuhler seems to only perform fairly well. For the trade-off, you get an easy-to-install, clean cooling system that will sit pretty on your chipset and still perform as intended.

Antec High Current Gamer 620W Power Supply ReviewPrice: $135

Antec power supplies cater to most PC builders. From the low cost Neopower to the high-end choices like the High Current Pro 1200w, there is something for almost everyone. They have also added a new branch that is dedicated to gamers and today we look at the High Current Gamer 620watt. It features a high power+12V rail, heavy duty connectors, 80 Plus Bronze certification and active power factor correction.

Straight up the packaging of the Antech HCG-620 actually looks good. The sides and end panels reveal technical details with a specification table, conformance marks, sizes, fan noise and all other essentials you would want to know about the power supply.

When you open the box, the power supply is wrapped in a thin black bag and there is an accessory set that houses all the various wires you are going to need to send power to your graphic card, motherboard, and everything else. The packaging is rather basic, but you will find that it has everything needed for it purposes.

The unit itself is mostly black, with a textured surface. The hexagonal holed exhaust grill, small mains on/off rocker switch and cable exit port make up most of the exterior. The cable set is sleeved all the way into the power supply and is well protected.

The connector set that goes to the various parts of your

PC components includes two 6+2 pin PCI-E ad a 4+4 pin ATX12/EPS12V. The 135mm fan is by Adda and uses a ball bearing system, and runs at a maximum 2050RPM with 37.8dBA.

To be blunt, the HCG620 is at most a more low cost power supply that would easily handle say a 660 GTX and if you put in a GTX680 or TITAN, be prepared to see it overwork itself. If you intend to use SLI and Crossfire setups, make sure that the 620 wattage is enough, if not get something higher. Antec has up to 850 watts available.

In terms of noise and temperature, it was hard to tell if the HCG620 was adding to the heat. We tried to run it using a GTX680 and even the fan was barely audible at its ramped up 2000RPM speed. One would only notice its existence if the room was pin-drop quiet.

We put the Antec HCG 620 through a range of different set-ups. The first being a simple gaming setup with entry and mid-level parts. This included an i5 Z77 processor, and a GTX 660Ti graphics card. We also pushed the card further by switching out the 660Ti with a GTX 680 card. For both instances the power supply unit performed decently, only starting to push its fans at 100% load during the GTX 680 test.

As I have mentioned earlier, we do not recommend you to use a high end graphic card on 620 watts. Get something higher and Antec does cater to those needs as well. As for the rest, this High current Gamer 620W is very competitively priced if you calculate its price per watt ratio.
