The Bulls struck for three runs in the first inning off G-Braves’ starter Todd Redmond and never trailed. Redmond (L, 6-6) yielded a leadoff double to Rich Thompson and RBI single to Jesus Feliciano before striking out the next two batters. However, Leslie Anderson followed with a two- run homer to dead center, giving the Bulls a 3-0 advantage. Ruben Gotay lined a solo homer to right off Torra in the second to make it a 3-1 game, but that would be Gwinnett’s only offense. Torra (W, 8-6) scattered four hits and struck out two, while relievers Brandon Gomes (H, 4) and Dane De La Rosa (S, 10) combined on 2.0 scoreless innings. Henry Wrigley added an RBI double off Redmond in the fifth. Gwinnett falls to 4-5 against Durham this season with the loss. Standings Watch: With last night’s loss, Gwinnett remains in fourth place in the International League South Division, 8.0 games behind division-leading Charlotte (49-41). The G-Braves trail second-place Norfolk (46-44) by 5.0 games and third-place Durham (43-47) by 2.0 games. On the streak, Constanza has raised his batting average from .284 to .311, good for fourth in the IL. His streak is tied for the second-longest posted by a G-Brave this season. Mighty Mejia: Ernesto Mejia went 1-for-4 with his IL-leading 97 th hit last night, extending his hitting streak to seven games. The Bulls struck for three runs in the first inning off G-Braves’ starter Todd Redmond and never trailed. Tonight’s Start: 26-year-old left-hander Yohan Flande makes his 18th

appearance, 17th start for Gwinnett in game two of this three-game series

against Durham tonight. It is the 155th career outing, 128

th career start for

Flande, as well as his 51st career appearance for Gwinnett (36

th start).

Last Start: Flande did not receive a decision despite his seventh quality

start in his last outing on 7/2 vs. Charlotte…he worked a season-high 8.0 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits including a solo homer by Dan Johnson…the left-hander walked none and struck out three, throwing 108 pitches, 69 for strikes. Flande induced a season-high 17 groundouts to just three air outs, exiting in a 2-2 game. The G-Braves went on to win 3-2 in the 12

th on a walk-off fielder’s choice by Tyler Pastornicky.

Longest Outing Since ‘09: The 8.0 innings thrown by Flande in his last start were his most since 6/14/09, when he threw a 9.0-inning six-hit shutout for Advanced-A Clearwater (Philadelphia Phillies) in a 2-0 win over Jupiter. He had not worked more than 7.0 IP in 90 outings (2009-2012) between that complete game and his last start.

Vs. Durham: Flande will face Durham for the third time this season. He’s

1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER in 6.0 IP) including a win in a start at Coolray Field on 4/14 (5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER in 5-0 win). For his career, Flande is 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA (8 ER in 34.2 IP) in nine games, five starts vs. the Bulls.
