Josh team of GVK MIAL organized the Table Tennis workplace challenges where members from various departments participated in the tournament. A few months ago, GVK MIAL had launched a Josh Committee that would be responsible for organizing and managing sports related engagement, events and activities to

improve the employees’ performance, and enhance overall physical and mental well being.

Our Vice Chairman Mr G V Sanjay Reddy had the unique privilege of being chosen to deliver the welcome address for the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi at the Champions of Change workshop initiative organized by the NITI Aayog at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi on 17 Aug, 2017. While welcoming the Prime Minister, he congratulated the NITI Aayog for this initiative where the government gave an opportunity to the CEOs to express their views and suggestions to take India ahead as a developed nation. After the welcome address, the Prime Minister also spoke and later interacted with the Young CEOs who are Transforming India through G2B partnerships. Over 200 CEOs from different sectors participated in the event.

Jegurupadu CCPP participates in ‘Rally For Rivers’

Jegurupadu CCPP participated in ‘Rally For Rivers’ in Hyderabad. ‘Rally For Rivers’ is a campaign launched by Spiritual leader Sadhguru of Isha Foundation to tackle the scarcity of water across rivers in India and also to create awareness about protecting rivers.

All the employees along with Mr Vikas Chandra Shukla, plant head at Goindwal Sahib TPP participated in Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. On this occasion a statue of Lord Ganesha was

installed in the service building of the plant site. Everyone enjoyed the celebrations to the fullest. Here are a few glimpses....

Tributes to Late Shri Som Bhupal

To commemorate the eighth death anniversary of Late Mr Som Bhupal, a gathering of the Corporate Office employees and senior management personnel was held at the Taj Vivanta, Begumpet on 1 September, 2017. Dr GVK Reddy, our Founder Chairman and Managing Director and Mr G V Sanjay Reddy, Vice Chairman also attended and shared their fond memories of the Late Mr Som Bhupal. Mr Raghunath and Mr Issac George also shared their personal work experiences with Mr Bhupal. All the employees and other senior members paid floral tributes and homage to Mr Bhupal.Mr G Niranjan Reddy, Sr VP- HR & Admin facilitated the

meeting and began the proceedings. Thereafter two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to Mr Bhupal. The late Mr Bhupal had an eye for detail and personally oversaw many noteworthy projects at GVK including the implementation of the 330 MW Shrinagar HEP, Uttarakhand. He also led the commissioning of Jegurupadu CCPP Phase 1, India’s first IPP and the Jaipur-Kishangarh Expressway which was the country’s first six-lane road project developed on BOT basis. A man of few words, Mr Bhupal was known as someone who could bring clarity to the table with his quick decision-making skills.

GVK BIO conducts Masterminds 2017

Onam Celebrations at Taj Club House

GVK BIO conducted Masterminds 2017, the annual quiz competition which is organized every year as a part of employee engagement activities. The theme of the quiz was around India, focusing on the history and achievements of Indians in various fields. The popular quiz master Prof. Narendranath Menon from the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad conducted the Quiz Finale. All the employees participated with enthusiasm and the winners were rewarded with a trophy by Mr Manni Kantipudi CEO, GVK BIO.

Taj Club House celebrated Onam festival for its associates as a part of employee engagement activities. The employees came forward and designed the traditional Pookalam, a flower petal rangoli with a brass standing lamp. To make the celebrations

colourful, all the associates also dressed up in traditional Kerala attire.

Mr Sharat Chander Sharma, Head - O & M, Mr Ramana Reddy Maru, G M - Civil and other senior officers with their families participated in Vishwakarma Puja at the site. The puja was performed in the Power house area and ‘prasad’ with lunch was organized for all staff and their families.

All associates and other contractual staff of Jaipur-Kishangarh Expressway Project participated in the Vishwakarma Jayanti celebrations at the toll plaza. The Puja was conducted at the toll plaza building by the maintenance staff.

Team building activityLearning is not the product of teaching. Learning is the product of the activity of learners. Team Taj Deccan organised a mummy making competition as part of team building activity where one person was dressed up as a mummy with the help of other team members in five minutes. In this team building activity, employees from various departments actively participated and enjoyed this exercise. Ms Maya, Ms Hymavathi and Ms Jayalatha were rewarded as first prize winner.

Joy @ Work Taj Deccan organised a game of Tambola, as part of its Joy & Work initiatives for all the associates to motivate them in their work. Employees from different departments participated in this fun-filled activity and enjoyed the fullest, with the winners being duly rewarded. These initiatives by the HR team go a long way in enhancing employees’ productivity at the workplace.

Taj Deccan organizes Dental CampHR team of Taj Deccan organised a free dental checkup camp for all the associates in Hyderabad. Such initiatives bring a sense of belonging to the employees while working as they are taken care of by the company.

Kitchen Garden at Taj Krishna Team Horticulture of Taj Krishna developed an unused piece of land in the hotel premises into it’s own kitchen garden. This garden will be used to grow vegetables in-house which can be used in the hotel’s kitchen. Team horticulture has done an exceptional job under the leadership of Mr Veerbhadra Rao towards developing this kitchen garden. This kind of initiative shows the management’s commitment towards creating a sustainable environment.

New joinees at Taj Banjara were given a warm Taj Swagat welcome with a traditional Arti, Tikka and Garlanding to make them feel like treasured members of the Taj Family. The new joinees and other associates served lunch to each other as the part of a ‘Friends over Lunch’ session. They had a fruitful conversation with the HODs and other senior management over tea and coffee, and all of them were assured about the potential of learning and growth in the organization.

Appreciation @ Taj BanjaraOne of the guests of the Taj Banjara appreciated all the employees in a very unique way. He arranged a cake and conducted a cake cutting ceremony by all the employees in the lobby of the hotel. The guest appreciated the enthusiasm of the employees. Such sweet gestures by the guests go a long way in boosting the morale of all the staff and encourages them to more Tajness. Kudos to team Taj Banjara for this unique appreciation!

GVK ONE supports UNICEFGVK ONE mall supported #EarlyMomentsMatter, a new campaign by UNICEF in Hyderabad. The aim of this campaign was to increase awareness for the visitors about the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life and the impact of early experiences on the developing brain. This was part of the CSR initiatives of the GVK ONE mall.

Dignitaries visit GVK EMRI Gujarat

Hon’ble Minister of Women Welfare, Family Welfare, Mother and Child Welfare and Tourism, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, Prof. Reeta Bahuguna Joshi along with other dignitaries visited GVK EMRI Gujarat. They were given a tour of the entire facility and were explained about the ERC, Training & Research Centre, PCR Cell, Skills Stations mechanism followed for attending any emergency. They were also briefed about 108 and all other GVK EMRI projects. The dignitaries were quite impressed with the efficient services offered with the help of well-equipped ambulances that are designed to access difficult terrains.

GVK EMRI - Gujarat celebrates Teachers Day

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao launched a 100 Mobile Veterinary Clinics along with other dignitaries in Telangana on 15 September, 2017. These are technologically advanced vehicles that are equipped to provide door step veterinary services like medical, surgical and gynecological emergencies in different livestock species owned by the farmers

in the rural areas of the State. The toll free number ‘1962’ would provide instant response on all days from 9 AM to 5 PM.

GVK EMRI - Gujarat celebrated Teachers Day and also honored the outstanding contribution of their teachers for empowering the EMTs, Pilots, EROs and others in their mission of saving lives. A cake cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate the

birthdays and joining anniversaries of employees.

Gandhi Jayanti marks the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth on 2 October, 1869. Gandhiji is remembered for his contribution towards the Indian freedom struggle. He is known for

launching his non-violent civil disobedience movements in India and South Africa. These included the beginning of the non-cooperation movement in 1922 and the Salt Satyagraha or the Salt

(Dandi) March starting on 12 March, 1930. This Day is also celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence by the United Nations General Assembly.

Diwali - 19 OctoberDiwali or Deepavali is one of the most popular

festivals of Hinduism. It signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance,

and hope over despair. Diwali festivities start with Dhanteras, followed by ‘Narak Chaturdasi’ on second day, Deepawali on third day, ‘Diwali Padwa’ dedicated to matrimony on fourth day and ends with ‘Bhai Dooj’ dedicated to the sister-brother bond on the fifth day.

National Unity Day or ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ marks the birth anniversary of

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31 October. On this day, he is remembered for

his efforts as the country’s first Home Minister to unite India. Vallabhbhai

Patel was one of the founding fathers of modern India and is often referred to as

the Iron Man for his attempts to unify our country.

Indian Air Force day is celebrated on 8 October every year to increase the awareness about the importance of the Indian Air Force in national security since it was officially established on this day in the year 1932 . There is a meticulously conducted hollow square parade in which the Commander in Chief administers the oath of allegiance to all the air warriors as well as the civilian personnel for dedicating their lives to the larger and much greater cause of the nation. The Indian Air Force has a workforce strength of about 170,000 and more than 1,400 aircraft

and is considered as one of the leading air forces of the world.
