Use this material to understand how to customize the general look of your new GuideMaker based Application.

To be able to do this you will need Adobe Photoshop CS5 or later.

Before you change everything don’t forget to install the fonts from the Fonts folder.

InstructionsCustomizing the GuideMaker design is quite easy. You will find three sample screens in the folder and the splash screen.

InstructionsYou can try out your design ideas on all files by the same way, except the Splash Screen which is totally free to customize however you want.

1. Open one of the three PSD files (except the SPLASH Screen.psd) in Adobe Photoshop.

2. You will find these layers in all of the files. Note that there are three layers with red flags. Those are the customizable layers that you can play with.

3. First try to change the background images. Double click on the pictograph of the layer called “Background color”. (Click exactly on the small picture next to the layer name, NOT on the layer name.)

4. A new screen will come up with only one layer which contains the blurry background image.

5. You can use the existing image in different colors or you can use

your own background design. If you use your own design we recommend to choose blurry pictures with similar lightness everywhere unless the texts could be difficult to read on same pages. Just simply paste your design image on top of the existing layer.



Instructions6. If you choose to recolor the existing background image click on the

“Background color” layer and open the Image / Adjustment / Hue/Saturation... menu or click CTRL+U.

7. Check the box next to the Colorize label on the bottom right corner of the window than play with the Hue, the Saturation and the Lightness levels until you find the desired color combination. When you are finished click the OK button.

8. If you like what you see just close this window and click Yes when it asks if you want to save it or not.

9. Now change the system color of the App. Find the “System color”

layer and double click on the small pictogram next to the layer name.

10.A new window will open again when you will see only one layer and a screen filled with only one color. Changing this color here will change all the colored elements in the original file.

11.Double click on the small pictogram next to the layer name to bring up the color chooser tool.

12.Note down the color code of the original blue color if you want to revert everything to the originals later: 15c3d1. Now play with the colors and click OK when you find something you like.



Instructions13.If you like what you see just close this window and click Yes when it

asks if you want to save it or not.14.Now you can see how your changed background image and colors

look on the template screen.15.You can change the logo on the header by the same way how you

changed the background image and the system color.

Exporting the final designWhen you are finished with your job you need to export the background files and the system color. You can do this by the following these steps:

Exporting the Splash Screen1. Open the SPLASH Screen.psd in Adobe Photoshop.2. Click File / Save As...3. From the Format drop-down menu choose PNG4. For the filename type: “splashscreen.png”

Exporting the Background Image1. Open one of the PSD files that you modified with your design.2. Double click on the pictogram of the layer called “Background color”.

A new window will come up containing only the background image you created.

3. Click File / Save As...4. From the Format drop-down menu choose PNG5. For the filename type: “background.png”

Exporting the Header Logo1. Open one of the PSD files that you modified with your design.2. Double click on the pictogram of the layer called “Header logo”. A

new window will come up containing only the background image you created.

3. Click File / Save As...4. From the Format drop-down menu choose PNG5. For the filename type: “header.png”

Exporting the System Color1. Open one of the PSD files that you modified with your design.2. Double click on the pictogram of the layer called “System color”. A

new window will come up containing only the background color you created.

3. Click File / Save As...4. From the Format drop-down menu choose PNG5. For the filename type: “systemcolor.png”

Now all you need to do is to send these four exported PNG files to your contact person and you did the biggest step on your way to your new guide Application!

Create accounts for your colleagues, set different user levels, manage advertising subscriptions and payments

Splash ScreenThe first screen of the App. It shows up until the App loads in the background.

You can upload any design here with your own brand.



Featured AdA full screen images that come up

randomly on every startup. You can manage these picture from the

AdminSystem.



Picture BoardThe first screen of the App. It displays

the pictures of the POIs in distance order so a useful view to have an overview of the spots around the

current location of the user.

Navigation MenuNavigate to the main pages of the app:What To Do, Offers, Places, Info, More.

View MenuChoose between List View, Picture Board or Map View

FilterFilter the records by the main

categories or use the keyword search to find everything in the database.

Choose between alphabetic or distance order



Filter MenuYou can choose which POI categories should be visible or you can pick only

one that you want to see.

Turn OFF or ON all categories with one tap.

Keyword searchType any word here to search in the entire

database. It searches in the name and also the descriptions of the POIs’.

Turn OFF or ON to display each category one by one.

Click the button (or swipe the screen) to close the filter menu.



Detailed POI PageThe profile page of all the POIs: the free

contents (sightseeing spots, beaches, historical places etc.) and your paying

partners who can edit their own pages.

Back

Name, category type and category icon of the POI.

Check the POIs location on the map.

Five pictures that you can swipe horizontally with your fingers.

Add current POI to the Favorites.

Short description of the POI. Maximum 300 character.

Tags of the POI.

Swipe the page down to see Contact (address, e-mail, web and phone) and the attached Events, Promotions and Long Description of the POI.



What To Do Page / Events The upcoming events that are attached

to the POIs, grouped by date (today, this week, this month).


Choose between Events and Activities.

FilterFilter the records by the main categories

or use the keyword search to find everything in the event database.

Click on any of the list items to see the detailed page of the Event.

Choose between alphabetic or distance order.



Event Details PageYou can check the details of an Event if

you tap on it in the Event List. Every Event can have 1 picture, a description

and a date and time. All the other content (contacts etc.) are copied here

from the page of the POI.


Back

Description, date and time of the Event.

Name of the Event, name of the POI and category icon of the POI.

Picture of the Event.

Check the Event’s location on the map.

Contact info copied from the page of the POI.



Offers PageCoupons, special offers and

promotions attached to the POIs, grouped by the main categories.


FilterFilter the records by the main categories

or use the keyword search to find everything in the offer database.

Click on any of the list items to see the detailed page of the Offer.

Choose between alphabetic or distance order.



Offer Details PageYou can check the details of the Offers

if you tap on it in the Offer List. Every Offer can have 1 picture, a description and a start and end date. All the other

content (contacts etc.) are copied here from the page of the POI.


Back

Description, date and time of the Offer.

Name of the Offer, name of the POI and category icon of the POI.

Picture of the Offer.

Check the Offer’s location on the map.

Contact info copied from the page of the POI.



Useful Info PageText articles grouped in folders.


Click on any of the folders to see their contents and click on any content item to see the detailed description.

Monetization ModelWhether you give it for free or you ask money for the listings in the App, it’s your choice. Sell the ad spaces and makre extra profit for your business!

Local businesses pay a monthly subscription fee to get listed in your App.

You can give direct access for them to the Admin System so they can update their profile page: manage pictures, contact info, description, events and offers.

Suggested subscription fee for the advertisers is $50 / month per listings.
