Guidelines & Journal Topics

Guidelines

These guidelines will help make sure this time is truly spent with yourself and not filled with distractions. It must be one full hour. Try not to cut corners by: counting your morning shower, teeth brushing and cereal eating, etc - as part of your hour. The hour should be at a point in the day where it really feels like you are taking the time out to & for yourself.

Things You Can Do

Writing Meditation/Self-reflection

Walking or exercising (no music, no music, etc!)

Something you love

Anything else that you can do alone with little distraction

Things You Can’t Do

No TV, Music, Movies, Phone, Computer, or Games

Avoid being with people (sounds weird I know, but this is YOU time.)

As little distractions as possible

No napping during this hour

The overall goal is quite simple: spend more time with just YOURSELF. Some might call this facing yourself, or simply taking some time for YOU.

Journal Topics

If you are looking for some journaling topics, try out a few here:

Reflect on the events of the day. What do you recall? How did the day feel? How mindful were you?

Do you have any big decisions to make? Reflect on how you feel about your options.

Do you currently have any fears or worries on your mind? What are they and why do they scare you or make you worry? How is the fear or worry serving you?

Has there recently been something you really want to shi about yourself?

What is something you have always felt is your purpose in life?

The idea is to explore YOU and what you have going on inside. One thing that can be very helpful is to journal about your experience with the hour each day. By the end you can reflect back and see how things might have changed as the challenge goes on.

Don’t judge what you write; challenge yourself to be open and put it all out there! There is no wrong answer when it comes to what you can journal about.
