Brief Profile of Speaker:

Dr S D Attri is presently the Deputy Director General of Meteorology, Indian Meteorological Department, Government of India, New Delhi. His areas of interest include Agromet. Modeling and Services, Climate Change, Environment.

He is Member of Expert Team of Commission for Agril. Meteorology, World Meteorological Organisation, United Nations.

He has been Member of Commission for Atmospheric Sciences Management Group of World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Geneva Switzerland, Primary Contact of Global Atmosphere Watch in the country and Expert Member of two Task forces of GFCS of WMO, United Nations.

Felicitated and awarded Commendation Certificate by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, in November, 2007 for his contribution to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which is the Joint Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2007.

a) Introduction: A Guest lecture on “Climate Change and Ozone Depletion” was organized in view of the upcoming International Ozone Week.

b) Objective of the webinar/ Event / FDP: To aware students about the impacts of global warming and climate change.

c) Brief content of lecture- A Guest lecture on “Climate Change and Ozone Depletion” was organized by the

KADAM association and Department of Environmental Science on 14.09.19 at

SGT University in view of the upcoming International Ozone Week. The lecture

was delivered by Dr. S. D. Attri, DGM, Indian Meteorological Department, New

Delhi. The session covered the changes in climate change in relation to global

temperature and global annual rainfall changes and role of different chemicals in

ozone depletion.

j) Objective of the webinar/ Event / FDP: The main objective of this quiz was to make participants think beyond academics and text books in this lockdown period.

k) Brief content of lecture- An online quiz completion was organized by Kadam-An Academic Association, Department

of Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, SGT University Gurugram. The topics of the

Quiz competition were Environmental Issues, General Awareness, Science and Technology,

Art & Culture, Sports and Audio-Visual. The main objective of this quiz was to make

participants think beyond academics and text books in this lockdown period. All the

participants have enthusiastically participated in the quiz competition. Total 68 candidates

have participated in the event. E- Certificates were given to all the participants. Following are

Brief Profile of Speaker: Dr. Pawan Kumar ‘Bharti’ Chauhan, MSc, PhD, NET, FASEA, FANSF has completed his

education from Gurukula Kangri University, Haridwar (Uttarakhand), India. He has more than

15 years of research experience in Waste utilization, EIA & Antarctic Environment. He has

worked as Lecturer (Adhoc) in Vidyalaya Vibhaag, Gurukula Kangri University, Haridwar from

Feb 2005 to Dec 2007. Dr. Bharti has written/edited more than 150 Books, >180 articles in

national/international journals, proceedings/compendium, newsletters and books and 4 patents on

his credit. He has written many Hindi articles and scientific poems in popular magazines. He has

launched his 2 Hindi poem collections in 2012 & 2015. Dr. Bharti is the fellow, founder member

and life member of several scientific/academic societies. He has received ASEA Fellow Award

(2006), Vigyan Kavya Ratna (2008), Haridwar Kavya Ratna (2009), Bharat Excellence Award

(2013), ANSF Fellow Award (2014), Best Research Award (2015) Limca Book record (2016),

Young Scientist Award (2017), Excellence Research Award (2018), Research Excellence award

(2020) and few other awards in the field of scientific activities & literature. He is in

advisory/editorial board of 40 International Journals. Dr. Bharti was the member of 30th Indian

Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (XXX ISEA) of MoES, Gov. of India during 2010-11. Dr.

Bharti has been nominated ‘Man of the Year’ by IBC, Cambridge, England and his biography

has been published in ‘Who’s Who in the World’ 32nd Edition, USA. He is a Limca book of

record holder and has visited South Africa, Antarctica, UAE, Bhutan and Nepal. Dr. Bharti is

QCI-NABET approved FAE in AP, NV, SC, RH for EIA projects and guiding 03 PhD scholars

on various research issues. Presently, he is working as Scientist in Shriram Institute for Industrial

Research, Delhi, India and Principal Investigator (PI) of a DST funded major research project on

electronic waste.

b) Objective of the webinar/ Event / FDP: Main objective of this webinar to create awareness on environment and biodiversity due to Covid19 Lockdown period.

c) Brief content of lecture-

On the occasion of world environment day Kadam association of department of

environmental science organized a webinar on 05 June 2020. Main objective of this

webinar to create awareness on environment and biodiversity due to Covid19 Lockdown

period. Dr Pawan Kumar Bharti, Scientist, Sriram Institute of Industrial Research, Dehli

was the key note speaker for this webinar.

Webinar started with the brief Introduction of Dr Pawan Kumar Bharti by the

coordinator of Kadam Association. Dr Bharti told that worldwide disruption caused by

the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in numerous impacts on the environment and the

climate. The considerable decline in planned travel has caused many regions to

experience a large drop in air pollution. Dr Bharti Explained lockdowns enforced due to

the COVID-19 pandemic led to large improvement in air quality in India, say scientists

who suggest that such interventions may be used as a possible emergency measure to

combat severe air pollution episodes like those witnessed in Delhi-NCR region during

the winter months.

Dr Bharti told that revival of various endemic species also happened during the

lockdown period, 97 participants participated in this webinar.
