North Carolina. Monarch is a nonprofit

Monarch’s Guardianship Service

Monarch’s guardianship service is a collaborative effort of all involved in the care

and life of the person being served. The people who are appointed a guardian have

either been diagnosed with mental illness or a developmental disability and many are

considered to be difficult and high risk cases.

We work to find placements for people we support, as well as a place to live. Our

guardianship service ensures that we attend the hearings, court appearances and

hospital visits of the person being supported. We also participate in team meetings

for innovation services, mental health services and vocational services, and in making

medical decisions and end of life plans/hospice care with family members.

The most vital part of guardianship is including the person being served and their family

in all decisions and assisting them in living as independently as possible.
