Ericsson Group-Radio is addressing e.g. utility, transport, construction sectors, as well as government functions, needs for managed group communication. It is today common that these entities are building their own dedicated, radio networks. Erics-son Group-Radio offers an alternative pro-viding similar service but over commercial cellular networks, which brings significant advantages.

Service Providers already have the key as-sets to deliver a Group-Radio service. Net-work infrastructures have evolved to meet the needs of the regular subscriber base, dedicated spectrum has been acquired, and billing and CRM functions are in place to handle the end customer relation.

For service providers, Ericsson Group-Radio offers an excellent opportunity to further capitalize on their investments, creating a new and significant revenue stream.

Many Industries and Government entities need to communicate in groups, e.g. to direct and control work team activities, to exchange information between staff or to alert if something is wrong.

There is a need for Managed Group Communica-tion - a convenient and reliable way to accomplish the above.

Today Managed Group Communication is mainly accomplished through dedicated radio networks, characterized by high subscription fees and speciali-zed handsets. Large part of these are very old, analogue networks, soon to be phased out.

Ericsson Group-Radio presents a solution addressing the needs of managed group communication – push-to-talk, presence, location, dispatch etc – providing those services over commercial cellular networks, using standard handsets. This brings significant cost benefits to the end user as well as the ability to use both voice and data services having only one device.

Ericsson Group-Radio offers service providers an opportunity to create a significant new revenue stream by:

• addressing an existing High ARPU market – today served by dedicated networks - with a compelling new value proposition.

• grow the market by addressing “the masses” of professional users that could previously not afford.

Ericsson Group-Radio can be offered as a cloud ser-vice, bringing very low startup costs, little or no need for OSS/BSS integration and an OPEX-model allowing for profitable growth almost from the start.
