Since we haven't had a "Member of the Month" for several month's, I thought
I'd call this article "Group of the Year" . As we near the end of another year, I would
like to reflect on the last 2 years as out going President from the past to present years
starting with 2012. For 2012 year, Vice President - Don Cook and I have had the op-
portunity to work with a group of member's who have been on and off the Board/
Officer's position's from the past year's. I would like to say thing's were running pret-
ty smoothly or thing's were run the same as it always has been in the past. With not
much changed from year's in the past, there wasn't any excitement and the club con-
tinued to be the same.
In October 2012, new names were nominated and in November these new
names/member's were elected by a large majority of the General Member's were to
be on Board for 2013. The counted election vote's show that the "General Member's"
wanted change. I was asked by the newly elected Board if I would be President again
and Don Cook-Vice President for 2013. At November and December 2012 General
Meetings, Don Cook mentioned that a group was being formed and all was invited to
review the By-Laws and to add/change thing's. There were a lot of thing's done
"verbally" year after year but never added to the By-laws since 1998. There were
also thing's being done that wasn't being followed in the By-Laws in the past. (If it's
not in writing, it should only count for that year).

General Meeting - 11/10/2013
Arizona Auto Show 2013
Copperstate Mustang Club was invited to display member's car's along with the AZ Auto
Show that was held over on the Thanksgiving weekend from November 28-December 1. After nu-
merous calls to club members and with many member's going out of town, we were able to get 12
club member's cars from various years. I was told by the promoter's that the show was a great suc-
cess, and Copperstate has already been asked to return next year. Those willing to display there cars
for the weekend were: Tom Martin, Angelo Cellura, Scott Nett, David Jacobelli, John Valencia, Jo-
Ann & Dan Martorano, Kevin Stapleton, Steve Naranjo, Fabian Pugliese, Steve Minx, and Jeff
Minx.
Thank You to everyone for their help,
Jeff Minx
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
Group of the Year 2013 Cont.
The By-Law topic struck a lot of nerve's and was even thought that the newly elected Board was
trying to kill the club. I received unlimited emails and phone calls for a couple of week's listening from
several selected member's complaint's. As President, I respected all of the call's and concern and didn't
make any decisions. The final revised By-Law was mailed out to every member from 2012 and 2013 with
a current membership to review and then to be voted on by the General Member's. Again, by a large re-
turn count, the new By-Laws were approved over several opposing votes. This showed that change was
needed.
When the club decided year's ago to change from a Mustang Car Club to a 501-"Non for Prof-
it" status, it now becomes a business .We didn't have a chairperson for the Pancake Breakfast, so I asked
the Board Member's and Officer's to organized and operate the event. The April Spring Fling Car Show
Chairperson resigned approx. 1 month before the show date, and the Board/Officer's stepped in and took
over.
Within the last 11 month's we've had 3 member's who lost a loved one. 1 was a member's wife
and 1 was Don Cook's son, and then Sharon Maloley's mother. (Don and Sharon both being in Officer's
position). With some time off, they came back ready to go. Back in May, the club received 2 letter's from
an agency to review the club's paperwork for past or lack of filing's. This was something that was never
handled properly from year's in the past. Sharon Maloley had to track down misplaced record's from the
past Secretaries and Treasure's for this new Club problem. Along with Sharon, Don ,Doris Minx and my-
self will continue to correct this problem even after were out of office, but ALL the credit goes to Sharon
for all of her hard work toward the club.
Since the beginning of the 2013 year until present, there have been some very heated discussions
with loud outburst from many people voicing their opinions at the Board and General Meeting's. I've no-
ticed that within the last 4 month's that the General Meeting attendance has dropped more than half. Why?
What happened? In October this year, nomination's for the 2014 Board was selected and more than half
has declined leaving a majority of past member's to be re-elected again. In November the General Mem-
ber's voted, putting the past year's member's back on the Board or in an Officer's position for 2014.
We also discussed about doing something different with the Christmas Party. Make it at a Central
location like at Mt. Olive's Church in Phoenix. 1 corner of the room could be for Santa with a tree and
Gift's, A Pot Luck on the other side by the kitchen, the White Elephant gift in the middle of the
room, Casual attire, and have door prizes to give back to the member's. Several elderly Member's liked the
idea because they could attend too. It would have needed to be reviewed, but it was different, not like it's
always been. But before the last word could come out . YIKES !! Let's just say like the club's By-Laws
that hadn't been updated since 1998, It's time to move on up into the next the next Century.
The Ford Asset program needs to be reviewed. Why can't the winning student's come down to the
General Meeting and say "Thank You" to the member's for winning the yearly scholarship? The 4 people
that run the program and the club should be able to meet the winners. Tell us about yourself ? School is
closed on Sunday's. How about getting the instructor to promote the Ford Program and attend the club
once a year inform the member's of what going on. There need to be more involvement with the school,
club, 3 representatives for the club. I've heard many different excuses of why, but who is this benefiting?
There just need to be more interaction between the two parties to keep the program going. I've brought this
up only to fall into a pothole.
Group of the Year 2013 Cont.
There has been rumors floating around that this years Board and Officer's are spending money foolishly as
fast as a stolen Mustang. I've passed the club checkbook around at several meetings to show last years rec-
ords versus this years records to show the members that is not true. You, the members should ask to see
the Treasures books. It's your club, The Board and Officer's are here to represent YOU the Member's. This year
has been a VERY tough year from the beginning and I'm beat. I will stand by all of the Board and Officer's on any
decision they have made. I am proud to have worked with a new group for a change.
Next year Copperstate will be 35 years old. It needs to be a special year for the club with something given
back to the member's for their support? Since 1979, Copperstate rolled along on a one way street on Bias Ply tires,
now it's time to roll on down the highway on steel belted tires. This article is not meant to be a complaint letter but
rather an informative letter to all who doesn't have a clue on what's been going on this year. It showed that the
General Member's wanted change this year. And by the vote counts we wanted to try new thing's for the club to
keep it ahead of the other clubs. But it's evident that most thing's can't be changed!
In conclusion, I would like to Thank the 2013 Board and Officer's for working with me, and the General
Member's allowing me to represent you as President for 2012 and 2013. It has been an Honor to serve you.

Mustang 50th Anniversary Show
I know the 50th Birthday Party is not until April, 2014, but we all need to start planning now. You can go to
www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com to find more information about this event. We have found out that
there will be "special" parking for those who want to attend and display your car but want to come and go with your
car at any time vs having your car in the event from the start of each day until the end of each day. You will still
need to register your car and pay the normal fees for the event. We need to have at least 20 cars sign up in order to
do this.
I have attached an article about this option for parking your car. Please read it for the detail.
If you would like to participate in this and/or have questions, please email George at [email protected].
