Goals of the Rain Garden Project
• Improve the current drainage system of the existing Rain Garden
• Maintain the native plants of the garden
• Weed the garden• Find the pH of the soil• Find the slope of the
garden• Find the flow rate of
the garden
Measurements of the Garden
– Width of the Garden: 16’6”
– Height: 1’– % slope:
6.06060606060606060606060.
– Recommended soil depth: 6-7 inches
– pH results: 7.4 (nearly neutral)
Drainage System
• Makeshift system using existing pipes and cinder block
• Rain Barrel • The Rain Garden
only receives runoff water from the faculty parking lot
• The student parking lot drains to another drain on the far side of the parking lot.
Future Goals for the Rain Garden
• Rain Barrel• Greater Sustainability• Improved Drainage
System• Introduction of more
native plants• A second Rain Garden
located on the other side of the parking lot
