Welcome Being the first Newsletter of 2014, it’s pleasing to report that last year was a healthy one for us here at GTM. With the competitive nature of the market, it takes a fine team effort to achieve this type of result – so our aim now is to continue to delight our existing corporate customers and also win our fair share of new business during 2014. With recovery now being enjoyed across various sectors of the economy, hopefully your respective businesses will also benefit and 2014 will be a year of solid growth for all (along with plenty of associated business travel!). Good to see Easyjet recently report growing profits, in contrast to their arch rivals in the self-styled ‘no-frills’ sector Ryanair. We have sold Easyjet tickets since the mid-90’s when they first started flying, simply because this is what some of our customers wanted. Several of our competitors embargoed Easyjet at the time, purely for their own operational convenience. As a business, we are determined to continue to offer our corporate customers the full spectrum of airfares, allowing them to make fully informed purchasing decisions. With Easyjet becoming more business friendly (dare I say frilly), it’s also particularly good to see that even in the ‘no-frills’ sector of the market, customer service and quality matters, a lesson there for us all. With recovery now being enjoyed across various sectors of the economy, hopefully your respective businesses will also benefit and 2014 will be a year of solid growth for all (along with plenty of associated business travel!).

Good to see Easyjet recently report growing profits, in contrast to their arch rivals in the self-styled ‘no-frills’ sector Ryanair. We have sold Easyjet tickets since the mid-90’s when they first started flying, simply because this is what some of our customers wanted.

Debra RoyThisissueweareConnectingyouwithDebraRoy. Debra is a long standing member of our team who joined us in 2000. Debra has just this month celebrated her 14th anniversary working at Grosvenor Travel.

My Background:I have worked in the travel industry for 40 years this Summer (I don't look old enough I know!) I began in the retail area, selling package holiday and coach tickets, I soon realised that was not for me especially when I didn't know where somewhere was, we didn't have computers in those days to hide behind, haha!

ithenwentintotheBusiness/Corporateside, I felt this suited my personality a lot more and here I am many years later!

What is your role at Grosvenor?Mainly reservations, but I like to poke my nose into most things!

What do you enjoy most about working at Grosvenor?I would have to say talking and helping my clients every day, and generally making their day easier with my knowledge and expertise. I have known most of them for MANY years and class them as friends and can “read their minds” when it comes to travel. And of course my colleagues also make working here a pleasure.

What is your favourite travel destination and why?California–iusedtolivetherebackinthe80’s and made many friends whom I still keep in touch with today.

What are you looking forward to most in 2014?I am wishing 2014 is a happy and healthy year for my family and friends. I am looking forward to spending time with them and my lovely dog Digger.
