GROC’s Park StewardshipGROC Provides the following services in cooperation with the local land mangers for each
of these Parks:– Trail Maintenance
• Clearing• Repairing• Re routing
– Trail Design and building– Trail Blazing and mapping– Organization of regular work parties
• Tryon Park– Started Pilot Program in 2010– Creating new trails and repairing and creating more sustainable trail system– GROC Provided Trail maps and blazing and materials
• West Bay Park– Started Pilot Program in 2010– Creating traisl design from scratch as no official trails existed in this park– GROC Provided Trail maps and blazing and materials
• Dryer Road Park – Started in 2004 – Home of the Fattire Festival– 10 miles of trail on 85 acres

GROC Trail CrewGROC Formed GROC trail Crew in 2011 The goals of this program was to organize
and bring new training to our volunteer community
• Trail Crew Meet Up Group
– 130 registered volunteers– Hosting over 66 works days in 2011– Created many new Trail Crew Leaders being
awarded Trail Crew Shirts• Trail Crew Training Program:
– Run 2011 by Rick Williams – Had 8 individuals work on sustainable trail
management and building techniques

GROC Recognition In The Community Proclomation From County Legislature:
Dan Quatro and Debbie Draw authored the proclamation recognizing GROC for our volunteer efforts and contributions to our parks
Outstanding Asset Builder Award:
GROC Honored by Department of Human Services – Award was accepted on Oct 1st. GROC nominated for this award by Mike Cooper the Penfield's Director of Parks and Recreation. The Asset Builder Award recognizes those who who donate their time in an effort to encourage our youth in leading positive healthy lives

GROC’s Events6th Annual Fatire Festival:
This was the 6th year of the Fatire Festival and event designed to bring a wider audience into the sport we love.
Over 150 racers and their family and friends
Burning Bike Festival
It’s a weekend of camping, mountain biking, food and fun at Ontario County Park in South Bristol, NY.

IMBA VisitIMBA Working with GROC Subaru IMBA Trail Crew join us in Rochester for 3 days of Training and presentations on Sustainable Trail Building. Even better we got 2 Trail crews, Steve & Morgan Lommele and Jake Carten and Jenny Abraham really put on a fun and full three days.
The Subaru IMBA Trail Crew goes around the country visiting local areas and working with IMBA clubs to train and teach trail building techniques and even more than than help Clubs like our to be the best possible advocacy groups within our communities. These crews come with years of knowledge being out in the field and working on every conceivable trail type and with all kinds of clubs big and small.
Land Mangers from Monroe County Parks, Victor Parks, Penfield and others attended training with the IMBA Crew

Other GROC Community Involvement• Single Track Academy
– GROC has a summer program for young adults that teaches mountain Bike Skills and much more. This 6 week course focus on skills, health, advocacy, trail building, and sense of stewardship for our parks and trails.
– This Year there were over 40 students
• Local Park Clean Up - Ellison Parktrash 3,258 pounds
- About 500 volunteers -2,861 pounds of e-scrap collected for recycling from the volunteers
Black Creek- 630 pounds of trash; 25 volunteers
Ellison- 850 pounds of trash; 138 volunteers
Genesee Valley- 277 pounds of trash; ~150 volunteers
Mendon Ponds- 380 pounds of trash; ~50-75 volunteers
Ontario Beach- 370 pounds of trash; 40 volunteers
Seneca- 510 pounds of trash; ~100-110 volunteers
GROC wins refurbished laptop for most pounds of trash collected

Pilot Program Update• County Is doing it evaluation starting 11/21/2011
– They will be taking photos as they did at the beginning of the process

GROC Has Grown • Membership Dollars:
– trail signage– not for profit legal fees– materials for skills park– trail tools– and other trail advocacy items– Insurance (1 million dollar policy, allows us to work in parks )
• Current Membership – 261 Currently Active and Paying members
• 13 Gold Member• 27 Advocate Members• 88 Family• 163 Single• 36 FREE members
– 358 – is most members we have had paying
• Email list – 985 deliverable emails

Local Business Support
• Bike Shop Involvement– Local Bike Shops offering discounts for GROC members and supporting events like Fattire festival– Local shops also supporting Single Track Academy with sponsorships
• Donations and Support– These groups have donated over $3,000 dollars over the last 2 years. The donations have been
presented to GROC for its Outstanding Mountain Bike Advocacy in the region.

GROC 2011 SurveyResults from 2011 Survey gives us some things to think about:• Over all the survey was very positive and GROC has done allot for off road cycling
in our community. • Open Comments:
• More Support for other local cycling events• More opportunities for all levels of ability including GROC lead clinics and rides• More women specific opportunities to ride and learn• Youth education and involvement outside our core audience

GROC Focus for 2012- 2013 • Management and Maintenance of Existing Parks:
– Building Trails is only only the first step, proper maintenance and care of trails are what make the trails truly sustainable and enjoyable
• Growing our Membership base– Creating more stewardship opportunities for users of our
parks– Getting more diverse audiences to volunteer some time in
our parks– Creating value that will drive people to become members– More community programs for Women, Youth, and all levels
