Environmental Planning in Germany•Germany is a Federation consisting of 16 federal states (Länder)

•Federation provides legislation on the field of environment protection

•Implementation and enforcement is task of the Länder

•Environmental Planning not mandatory

•Baden-Württemberg is the only federal state with an environment plan

•Reason: Governments are reluctant in committing itself on long term objectives

•Action plans in the eighties
