Well, we made it! Summer is now officially here and with the arrival of the season we look forward to more wonderful activities and memories to share here at Spring Hills Somerset! As the summer unfolds other events will be forthcoming, must notably our annual Independence Day celebration. We’re hoping to see you all at our Annual Family Fourth of July BBQ event this year, scheduled for 5:30pm, July 3rd.

Here at Spring Hills, Somerset, summer also means that our community gardens are thriving. We’ve planted lots of fresh veggies and look forward to harvesting them. Nothing beats the flavor of a fresh Jersey tomato! Summer is a time of laughter, sunshine, warm breezes and cool drinks. Stop by and check out some of what’s sure to be programs that will create a cool, easy, breezy, feeling during this especially fun time of the year

July 12th 2:00pm “Shipwrecked” Museum of Early Trades Monthly VisitParticipants learn about history making shipwrecks from Colonial times to the present off the coast of New Jersey. Newspaper archives, ship’s logs, diaries, USLSS annual reports, shipwreck books, periodicals and many web sites on the internet will be shown via power point presentation & actual artifacts brought by museum to view.

July 17th 2:00pmSuzanne Cerabone R.D. presents Nutritional Guidelines/Healthy SkinOur in house dietitian, Suzanne will be in for her monthly visit to discuss nutrition and itsimpact on healthy skin. Find your healthy eating style and build it throughout your lifetime. Everything you eat and drink matters. The right mix can help you be healthier now and in the future.

July 20th 2:00pmMusic Therapy with DanielleDanielle Fiorello is 36 years old and was born and raised in Edison, NJ. She spent her childhood & teen years performing at Villagers Theater in Somerset & many other community theaters around the state, as well as performing with Regions, All State, and All Eastern honors choirs. She currently lives in Ocean Grove where she is a Pet Sitter and prides herself in helping others and bringing joy to people’s hearts through the sound of music.

July 26th 10:30 am“Art of the Masters”: Norman RockwellNorman Rockwell was born in New York City on February 3, 1894. Talented at a young age, he received his first commission at age 17. In 1916, he created the first of 321 covers for The Saturday Evening Post. Join us as we learn more about the artist and re-create one of his works to take home.

July 28th 10:00am Trip to Cornelius Lowe House The Cornelius Low House, one of only two surviving structures from the 18th century Colonial port community of Raritan Landing, the two-story stone house was built in 1741 for a wealthy merchant of Dutch ancestry. Sign up at front desk.

July 26th 10:00 amSpruce Run BBQ TripThis trip is rescheduled this month instead of June 28th. Enjoy the views of rolling hills of Hunterdon County Recreation Park. Spruce Run is the third largest reservoir in the state after Round Valley and Wanaque reservoirs. We will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs with al the fixings’. Contact Edna for further details.
