August 2017 Greetings to All, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Scott Dal- ton and I am extremely proud to serve as your new Executive Director here at Pacifica Senior Living Woodmont. I have been working management in senior housing for nearly five years. I have worked with several communities throughout Florida, Kentucky and Indi- ana, and with that experience, I am ex- cited to be associated with the best care staff, at Woodmont, that I have seen anywhere in Senior Housing. As I was searching for employment to return to Florida from Indiana, I met the staff at Woodmont and immediately knew that this was my new home. Woodmont is truly the “Senior” in Senior Living, serving Tallahassee for more than three decades. In fact, our commu- nity was the first Assisted Living Com- munity in all of Leon County, with Assist- ed Living Facility License Number 99, and we have staff that has been here from almost the beginning. Just as the seniors that we serve, our community and family staff is experienced; as well as, compassionate and committed to the jobs that we do on a daily basis provid- ing our residents with the best quality care, bar none. (Continued on page 2) I was born on August 6, 1928, in Pitts- burgh, Pennsylvania. Photography was a hobby of mine, and I set up a dark- room in the basement of my family home. The Carnegie Institute of Tech- nology was my alma mater. An observer of life, I carefully studied the simple acts of sleeping and eating. One of my first jobs was with Glamour magazine. Dur- ing my career, I have worked as an illus- trator, filmmaker, and ad man. Over my long career, I have written several books and appeared on television. At the age of 39, I nearly died of a gun- shot wound. I founded the Pop Art movement. Joe Hamm Evelio Almeda Fran Miller Babi Slauson

Greetings to All, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Scott Dal-ton and I am extremely proud to serve as your new Executive Director here at Pacifica Senior Living Woodmont. I have been working management in senior housing for nearly five years. I have worked with several communities throughout Florida, Kentucky and Indi-ana, and with that experience, I am ex-cited to be associated with the best care staff, at Woodmont, that I have seen anywhere in Senior Housing. As I was searching for employment to return to Florida from Indiana, I met the

staff at Woodmont and immediately knew that this was my new home. Woodmont is truly the “Senior” in Senior Living, serving Tallahassee for more than three decades. In fact, our commu-nity was the first Assisted Living Com-munity in all of Leon County, with Assist-ed Living Facility License Number 99, and we have staff that has been here from almost the beginning. I was born on August 6, 1928, in Pitts-burgh, Pennsylvania. Photography was a hobby of mine, and I set up a dark-room in the basement of my family home. The Carnegie Institute of Tech-nology was my alma mater. An observer of life, I carefully studied the simple acts of sleeping and eating. One of my first jobs was with Glamour magazine. Dur-ing my career, I have worked as an illus-trator, filmmaker, and ad man. Over my long career, I have written several books and appeared on television. At the age of 39, I nearly died of a gun-shot wound. I founded the Pop Art movement.

Because of the love that I have seen in our community, I have accepted this new role graciously and look forward to a long tenure as your Executive Director.

As I grow with the community, we will continue to improve on the services that we provide. As you have noticed, Pacifica Senior Living is committed to continuous improvements. We are in the process of installing DIRECTV to all of our apart-ments. The solar panels are being installed for greener community and we are in the process of getting engineering re-ports for a new backup generator for those never known emergencies. We will continue to look into ways to improve in

Dining Services, Housekeeping, Activities and Residential Care, but please be patient with us in that to do a project cor-rectly, it will take time.

We want each resident to feel safe, happy and at home, always while calling Pacifica Senior Living Woodmont home.

This is your community and the staff and I are here to serve you. I look forward to knowing each of you and your families and hope, that in time, you will accept me as part of your extended family. Please, feel free to stop by and say hi anytime and thank you for allowing me the honor and privilege to serve you as your Executive Director at Pacifica Senior Living

Woodmont.

With Love and Regards,

Scott J. Dalton Executive Director

Special Events & Memorable Moments

Jogging Through the Jun-gle

How Does It Go? 1. Instruct participants to jog in place as you take them on an imaginary jog through the jungle. (Lift feet up and down, setting your own pace.) 2. While jogging, call out verbal cues to do certain physical activities based on things you might encounter in a jungle. Demonstrate the move. Repeat the move-ments as many times as is comfortable. Between movements, keep jogging. For example: • Vine – Pretend you are climbing a rope. Move hand-over-hand up the rope, opening and closing your fists. Then see if you can reverse and climb down the rope. • Flying insects – Swat your arms. Extend your arms out to the side, bring them to the front, and cross over. Extend again and repeat. • Low branches – Duck! Slide your hands down your legs as far as you can and sit back up. 3. Add your own scenarios and keep moving.

Welcome Ms. Anita Brown! She was born on July 8th and raised in Florida. Her whole life she has lived across various cities, such as Winter Park and Tallahassee, which are all located in the state of Florida. She has never lived outside of the Florida border. During her early years, she attended the University of Florida during the first year they started accepting women into the uni-versity. She was a teacher and taught ele-mentary school children. She didn’t work much though, as she followed her husband of more than 50 years wherever he went. They had one son together. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her cat Ruth and read various types of books.

Welcome Rosemary Combs! We’re so glad to have her as part of the Woodmont family now! She was born on April 5th, 1934 and is from Pompano Park, FL. She lived there for many years, but eventually moved to Talla-hassee, FL to be closer to her son Rob and her family. During her life, she attended the University of Florida, also in the early years of women being accepted into the male dominated university. Rosemary fell in love and was married to her husband for 40 years. Now she spends her time doing the things she enjoys most like sewing and spending time with her brother Benny who she is extremely close to.
