• ¡Hola! – when greeting, it is customary to shake hands.

• In spanish-speaking countries and throughout Europe people also exchange a kiss on the cheek or a hug• They tend to get very close.

• It is common for 2 women or a woman and a man to kiss on the cheeks when they greet each other.

• In Spain, 2 kisses, one on each cheek, are used.

• In Latin America, only 1 kiss is used.

• Saludos:• Hola – can be used anytime• Buenos días – used in the morning• Buenas tardes – used in the afternoon/early evening• Buenas noches – used at night

• Despedidas:• Adiós – means goodbye, permanent (like forever)• Hasta mañana– until tomorrow/see you tomorrow• Hasta luego– see you later• Nos vemos– see you later • Chao – bye
