3. NCC Unit PIMS : NCC unit formally
inaugurated in PIMS on July 8th
2019.
Three cadets were enrolled under
Puducherry Girls Independent Company
Army Wing in 2018 – 19. Mrs. Hemavathi.
P, CTO attended ANO interview, 18 cadets
enrolled for 2019 – 2020.
4. World Bioethics Day Celebration
College of Nursing, PIMS in
collaboration with Medical College, PIMS
celebrated World Bioethics day on
24/09/2019. Faculty & B.Sc.(N) students
performed the Tablo theme focus on
“Respect for Cultural Diversity” and
participated in Poster & Photography
Competition.

5. Sports Day was conducted on 06/02/2019
at PIMS. All Nursing students were
divided into four groups and they were
participated in all the events and shown
their talents in sports. Dr. Renu G’Boy
Varghese, Director-Principal, PIMS gave
the Trophy, Certificates and Medals to the
students who won the competitions.
6. TALENT SEARCH 2019 (29/03/2019)
“ENTHUSIA” was conducted by SNA
Unit, College of Nursing, PIMS on various
events. Mrs. Alice Ibraham Chacka,
Principal, The Study School gave prizes to
the participants who won the events. All
the students were participated and shown
their talents.
7. Onam & Teachers Day Celebration was
conducted by SNA at CON, PIMS on
(10/09/2019). Games and Cultural
programmes were conducted at CON and
Auditorium. All the students were
participated and shown their talents.
8. SNA Christmas Celebration was
conducted by SNA at Auditorium PIMS on
(28/11/2019). Carols, Skit and Dance
performance was done by B.Sc.(N),
P.B.B.Sc.(N) & M.Sc.(N) Students.

Guest of the Programme. Dr. Rebecca
Samson, President of SNA delivered
Christmas Message to the students.

NSS Volunteer Ms. Riya Das, III Year
B.Sc. (N) student participated in Republic
Day – 2020 Parade at Rajpath, New Delhi,
representing NSS Unit Puducherry, after
various level of screening and selection.
10. Republic day 2019 is being celebrated on
26th
January, Saturday at Pondicherry
Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry.
This event aimed to start a tradition of
Parade on Republic day and to enhance
enthusiasm and spread awareness about
this important day among youngsters
11. Observation of Tamil Traditional &
Cultural Practices (Harvest Festival)
Tamil Traditional & Cultural Practices
(Harvest Festival) was celebrated and
Sugar Cane and Pongal was distributed to
all the students and Faculty & staffs of
College of Nursing, PIMS.
12. Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) - Voter
Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)
Live awareness Demo was organized for
the Volunteers and Games were conducted
at Conference Hall, College of Nursing,
PIMS regarding Right to Vote.

13. NSS Unit College of Nursing, PIMS was
participated in Coastal Clean-Up activity
along with Indian Coastal Guard,
Puduchery at Auroville Beach, 60 NSS
Volunteers Participated in the clean-up
campaign. On 15/02/2019, at 7am Coastal
Clean-Up activity started with Pledge on
International Coastal Clean-Up,
administered by Chief Coastal Guard
Commandant, Puducherry.
14. As a part of NSS Special camp - Martial
arts classes were conducted all seven days
evening 4 – 5 pm to teach important
lessons about self-defense, confidence,
respect and discipline. Two well-known
styles are karate and taekwondo. The main
difference is karate focuses on traditional
self-defense maneuvers, while
taekwondo often focuses on competition
skills.
15. NSS Volunteers visited Organic Farming
at PIMS. Organic farming is a method of
crop and livestock production that involves
much more than choosing not to use
pesticides, fertilizers, antibiotics and
growth hormones. Dr. Prasanna, Physical
Director, Boys Hostel warden, PIMS
maintaining organic farm on beside of
Boys Hostel, PIMS. He explained how to
create Organic Farm and its maintenance
to the Volunteers

16. The valedictory programme of the NSS
Special Camp was conducted at conference
Hall, CON, PIMS. The programme started
with the NSS song by Volunteers,
followed prayer by Rev. Christina,

Puducherry Region was the chief guest of
valedictory programme.
17. College of Nursing, PIMS was organized
World Health Day – 2019, Theme :
“Universal Health Coverage:: Everyone,
Everywhere” for B.Sc.(N), M.Sc.(N) &
P.B.B.Sc.(N) students from 11/04/2019 at
11am to 12.30pm at CNE Hall, PIMS with
the coordination of Department of CNE,
College of Nursing, PIMS. Dr. B.

Kalpet was the guest speaker on
“Universal Health Coverage through
AYUSH”.
18. Swachh Bharat Summer Internship – (2.0)
was conducted by NSS Unit College of
Nursing, PIMS form 19th
to 29th July 2019
at Alankuppam Village in collaboaration
with Vasantham Alanunkuppam Pudhiya
Udayam and Oulgaret Municipality,
Puducherry. Activities like Information-
Education-Communication Activities,
Solid Waste management Activities are
carried out.

20. National Mental Health Day was
celebrated on 10.10.2019. at PIMS.
Programme was organized by Psychiatry
Department, PIMS. Awareness Rally on
Suicide Prevention was conducted
involving students/faculty to create
awareness among public. Dr. Rebecca
Samson, Dean, CON & DR. Pradeep
Thilakan, HOD, Psychiatry Department,
PIMS flag Hosted the rally.
21. School Health Education Campaign was
organized on Safe Diwali Practices, Better
sanitation practices like using a Toilet,
Hand washing, Hygiene, Environmental
Sanitation and Dengue Prevention through
Puppet Show, Health Talk, Video
screening, Hand Washing Dance and
Poster Exhibition by Post Basic B.Sc.(N)
students at Govrment Higher Secondary
School, Alankuppam. 200 Students from
8th
& 9th
Standard were sensitized.

22. Puducherry Liberation Day was celebrated
at College of Nursing – PIMS on 1st
November 2019. Programme was
organized by NSS. Students and the
faculty of College of Nursing, PIMS
around 300 members were participated in
the program. Indian Flag Hosting was done
by Dr. Rebecca Samson, Dean, CON,
PIMS. NSS Volunteers were performed
Human Pyramid Choreography.
23. National Unity Day On the occasion of
Shri Sardar Vallabhai Patel Birthday was
celebrated on 31.10.2019 at CON- PIMS.
Programme was organized by NSS. Unity
Pledge was administered by Dr. Rebecca
Samson, Dean & Run for Unity was
conducted by involving students/faculty to
convey the message of national unity
permeates every part of the nation and the
society. Pledge was taken by all the
Students, Faculty and Staff on account of
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (Unity Day).
24. Mass Health Education Programme was
conducted in collaboration with NSS, Red
Ribbon Club & Department of Community
Health Nursing, College of Nursing, on
20/12/2019 at Alnakuppanm, Sub Centre.
The awareness was created through Posters
exhibition, Street play on HIV & AIDS
Awareness and distribution of Pamphlets.
There are 60 Public were participated and
benefited.

1. Mr.M.Melvin David (M.Sc 2016-18 Batch)
working as a Lecturer in PES college of nursing,
Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. Coordinating the
Nursing Now Global campaign and Nightingale
challenge leadership training program in working
place. Nightingale challenge is the Global target to
rise the voice and profile of nurses and midwives
by giving them a leadership training and make
them to participate in decision making and policy
making in health care system. We had grand
launch of those two global activities with candle
light procession on 28.01.2020 and the event was
recognized and appreciated by Professor Lisa
Bayliss, Director of Nursing Now Global
campaign. 43 nurses and midwives are enrolled for
the global activities and I planned to have
training programs for the same. As a part of this
campaign My students are participating in "Health
for all film festival" Conducting by WHO, Geneva,
Switzerland and "Nursing In Focus" photo contest
conducting by Nursing Now in celebration of Year
of nurses and midwives-2020
2. Sr. Amala Chowalloor (B.Sc.(N) 2005 -2009
Batch) successfully completed MBBS from
St. Jhon’s National Academy of Health
Sciences, Bangalore in the year 2019. At
present doing her Internship and joined for
Administration course in IGNOU.
