Greetings and customs of franceFrance has many customs, many of them very old and handed down from generation to generation unalterably being distinctive of this people, among them we can highlight.

greetings in france

The French when crossed with a neighbor greet him saying "Bonjour" or "Comment allez-vous?" (how are you?).

customs in the evenings outThe French do not stay home, like to go: both cultural outings to cinemas, theaters and concerts, entertainment and dining outlets, drinking or disco. Bars are open until quite late ... but if you want to continue the march, lacking nightclubs (payment usually drink included).

customs in presentations

For informal presentations it is customary to give three kisses (men shaking hands occur, but sometimes friends greet each also giving himself three kisses). You have to start on the left cheek if you do not want to create confusion, make no mistake !.

custom gratuitiesYou can leave tips at a hotel clerk, to usher cinema, wardrobe, etc. Taxi drivers are also often 10% expected. But in hotels and restaurants it is not necessary, because the bill comes in between 10% and 15% service charge. Or we have not been satisfied must express clearly.

customs at private partiesWhen you go to a private party or social gathering, some delay (15, 20 minutes) is accepted. This does not mean you have to be delayed, but it gives a true time of grace; further delay, unjustified, will be frowned upon. When we were invited to a house, we bring some small detail: depending on the occasion may be some flowers, some pastries, a toy for a child or a bottle of wine.

Customs in foodFrench food culture is a religion for the French. No snacks or meals prior to lunch or dinner are, as they feel that the taste of the main food is spoiled. They like to talk at the table. Coffee to end the meal, drink and, if the occasion calls for it, take a cigarette (whenever we are in a smoking area).

customs in business

The French are presented with a handshake, energetic but not aggressive. It is highly valued dress well and with style; wear suits with a bad cut, inappropriate shoes or socks, etc., will create an image of unprofessionalism. In business they are quite serious: they want to see facts, figures and reports and discuss them before taking hasty decisions.
