Who is behind GreenHouse Games?
Sustainability Victoria is an agency of the Victorian Government which facilitates and promotes the sustainable use of resources
LESS (Low Energy Supplies and Services ) is an environmental company that has been delivering energy and water saving programs and products since 2001.
LESS is delivering the GreenHouse Games on behalf of Sustainability Victoria
What is the Challenge?
A fun, free, fully supported online program for
workplaces to engage employees and their
families to take sustainable actions at home to become
GreenHouse Heroes
What is the Challenge?The Challenge aims to
promote sustainable
behaviour to benefit
employees, their families,
their workplace and the
environment. Employees
work in teams of up to 5,
working together to
achieve GreenHouse glory
What is the Challenge?Each participating employee family earns points for their workplace
and team for every Superhero action taken at home. The workplace
and team with the most points wins!

Last year’s participants
Challenge Process
Sign up your workplace.Employees then join a team or start their own (max 5 people).
Households register and then take actions by changing your habits and creating a greener home.
You have 8 weeks to earn points and contribute to your workplace total. Report weekly.
Daily prizes, weekly theme prizes and a grand prize will be delivered to active participants.
Continue to live a greener life and become a GreenHouse superhero.
The role of the workplace
• Appoint a coordinator • Endorsement from the senior management is
important• Recruit employees who form teams • Involve internal communications team to help
promote the Challenge and celebrate achievements • Set up recruitment and celebratory events?• Compete against other workplaces for GreenHouse
glory!
The role of LESS
• Provide support materials and tools for coordinators• Project team available to provide individual
coordinator support and answer queries• Report to all workplaces (via coordinators) on overall
Challenge progress and scores• Help Desk (email and 1300 number) to support
households to take sustainable actions• Make the Challenge as easy for workplaces and
households as possible!
The role of the coordinator
• Can be up to 3 coordinators• Be the communicator between the workplace and LESS • Promote the Challenge to employees and facilitate the
formation of workplace teams• Encourage households to register• Distribute household recruitment packs (zip up bag and
magnet) • Encourage households to complete the Challenge for the
full 8 weeks• Report back to workplace about progress and results
The role of the team
• Each workplace can have several teams, with up to 5 members
• A team captain should be appointed to motivate the team and liaise with the coordinator
• There are team prizes to be won (across all workplaces)
• Your workplace might like to run a competition between departments or states

Learn how to reduce your environmental footprint – take actions and save on utility bills!

Types of actions households can take
Lots of actions to choose from to reduce electricity, water, waste and transport fuel, eg:
• Adjust the thermostat on heaters
• Switch to GreenPower• Reduce the use of the clothes
dryer• Reduce car usage• Start a vegetable garden • Install a rainwater tank • Fix leaking taps• Put a ‘no junk mail’ sticker on
your letterbox• Recycle electronic goods you no
longer need

Timing
• Register your workplace by 6th August 2010• Recruit households by 3rd September 2010• Challenge start date is 6th September 2010• The Challenge lasts 8 weeks• Challenge finish date is 5th November 2010• Main prizes presented in December 2010
