Guiding Principles

Our Vision:

Our Vision is to become the 'future of education' in the region.

We aim to be acknowledged as a leading school with an international outlook, specializing in developing

our students to become remarkable human beings.

Our outstanding staff professionalism and service, along with the personalized quality of our learning

environment and communications are the key factors to the realization of our vision.

Our Mission:

Our Mission is to provide a high quality, creative and challenging international education. We foster

within each student, staff member and community member an enduring passion for learning and

empowering each individual to become a caring global citizen.

We aim to become recognized as the premier international school in the Middle East. The mission of our

School is preparing our students to aim for excellence and to make a difference as global citizens. We

fully believe, support and follow the IB Missio hi h ai s to de elop i ui i g, k o ledgea le a d

caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural

understanding and respect. To this end the organisation works with schools, governments and

international organisations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous

assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate

and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their diffe e es, a also e ight.

Our Philosophy:

Where vision lives, children flourish, and learning is at the heart of our community.

At Greenfield Community School we educate generations of children who will develop and use their

talents to create a sense of curiosity, tolerance, belonging, meaning and contribution within their

communities. Such children will grow into adults who are bright and shining lights in their world.

We recognise the importance of laying solid foundations upon which to construct the educational future

for our students. With the emphasis firmly upon learning, our school is a safe and secure educational

environment where students are happy to explore and share their ideas. We encourage students to be

curious and ask questions, knowing that this will develop their capacity to think creatively. We teach

students awareness of different ways of thinking, helping them to understand the benefits of, for

example, logical, divergent and creative thought; to understand that there is never only one answer to a

question and that there are several versions of a "right" answer. We teach them how to learn, to

understand how learning works best for them as an individual, to propagate positive learning habits and

help them to move towards fulfilling their potential.

Learner Profile Attributes

The International Baccalaureate learner profile came to existence from the IB mission statement. The

International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who

help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to

develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These

programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong

learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The Learner Profile is a statement of the values that define the type of learner that IB students strive to

be. All learning and instruction are developed around fostering these traits. IB learners are

internationally minded individuals that strive to create a better world through understanding the

o ld’s glo al interconnectedness and humanity. These traits are:

1. Inquirers: Develop a natural curiosity that allows them to become lifelong learners.

2. Knowledgeable: They explore ideas of importance and dig deep into its meaning creating a balance of

their learning.

3. Thinkers: They apply thinking skills that allow them to tackle complex problems in creative ways.

4. Communicators: They understand and can articulate information in confident, creative ways,

including a second language.

5. Principled: Students are honest, fair, just and full of integrity. They strive to solve their own problems

and to take responsibility for their own actions.

6. Open-minded: Students understand and embrace other cultures. They recognize and celebrate their

own backgrounds and learn tolerance for others.

7. Caring: Students actively care about others and participate in active service.

8. Risk-Takers: Students are brave in the face of new challenges. They strive to take on new roles and to

defend their own beliefs.

9. Balanced: Students understand the need to be emotionally, physically and mentally balanced. They

strive for this in themselves and others.

10. Reflective: Students reflect on their own learning. They are able to adjust for weaknesses and

strengths.

Our Objectives:

Expand our student numbers and facility to create a KG through Grade 12 quality international

education for all students in our community.

Deliver a challenging education to all students based on the four IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP and

IBCC), recognizing the importance of the IB Learner Profile (creating inquirers, risk-takers, thinkers,

communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, knowledgeable, balanced and reflective learners).

Provide vigorous leadership and support, within a caring school community, where all constituents are

involved in creating our community of learners.

Inspire an environment of excellence combined with a healthy and balanced curriculum, celebrating

everyone's talents and potential in all areas.

Empower and recognize each student and staff member's unique contribution to and needs in school

life.

Improve communication and relationships between all members of the school community, recognizing

that clear communication is a key to success.

Create internationally minded global citizens of the future.
