The UPAS Group, Icom North America and Green Bridge Technologies would like to welcome everyone attending the 2017 Green Transportation Summit & Expo. It’s an exciting time for the alternative fuels industry, as we continue to not only promote our industry, but to also educate transportation-sector leaders about what alternative fuels can do for them today. Our industry has grown rapidly over the years, with new, innovative ways to lower emissions and reduce our carbon footprint.

Brian Trice from Linn Benton Community College and his team have done an excel-lent job with all the events that they have organized, with each unique in its own way. United Propane AutoGas Solutions Group (UPAS Group) is truly honored to have the opportunity to be a presenting sponsor of such an event. UPAS Group works hard every day to educate and connect fleets with a one-stop shop to utilize propane auto-gas as a fuel source.

I’d like to thank each of you for attending the conference and bringing your expertise to our gathering. You, as organization leaders, have the vision, knowledge and experi-ence to help us pave our way into the future. You are truly our greatest asset today and tomorrow, and we could not accomplish what we do without your support and leadership.

Throughout this conference, I ask that you stay engaged, keep us proactive and help us shape the future of alternative fuels to continue our journey for a better tomorrow.

We look forward to a great show and feedback from everyone!!

On behalf of the Advanced Transportation Technology Center and Linn-Benton Community College, we would like to thank you for taking time out of your valuable days to join us here at the Green Transportation Summit & Expo in Portland, Ore. My team and I are thrilled to have you here. We are excited to bring you our premiere clean transportation/alternative fuels event. WELCOME!

The Advanced Transportation Technology Center, in partnership with local organizations and OEMs, has created the Green Transportation Summit & Expo. It’s a grassroots event, designed to address questions, concerns and barriers in the alternative fuels arena. We have tailored the topics and sessions to give you “real world” experiences, up to date technological advances,

Welcome to the Green TransportationSummit & Expo - Tacoma

Brian TriceSince 2010, Brian has been actively involved in transforming the transportation industry toward energy independence. Brian co-founded TransEnergy Solutions and was the creator and organizer of the International

Green Transportation Conference series in both the U.S. and Canadian markets. He has since joined the team at the Advanced Transportation Technology Center, a division of Linn Benton Community College, where he is the Manager of Alternative Fuels for Transportation and Conference Director. He is also coordinator of the Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition.

Brian has successfully brought international recognition to the alternative fuels movement and brought technology and consumers together by focusing on technology, infrastructure, economics and incentives.

and information on infrastructure, policy, and the right fuel for your operation. You have the freedom to interact with your peers and the experts on a more intimate level. We are here to help you discover ways to reduce your carbon footprint and our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.

As with many successful endeavors, the Green Transportation Summit & Expo would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of our many conference partners.

Some of the groups responsible for bringing us together include: Eugene Water & Electric Board, Columbia- Willamette Clean Cities Coalition, Oregon Dept. of Energy, Western Washington Clean Cities Coalition, and the West Coast Collaborative team.

We also appreciate the many local fleets and organizations participating in our panel discussions and providing vehicles for display.

A special thank you goes out to our Presenting Sponsors, Icom North America and the United Propane AutoGas Solutions Group. They saw the need to support our event by providing training and education to their constituents, along with the rest of the Pacific Northwest. Their contributions will enhance and accelerate the development of cleaner fuels in the public and private transportation sectors.

We hope you enjoy the next three days of the conference. I’m sure you will find value and have some good takeaways as you return to your job of deciding the next steps in converting your fleets.

Please take time to chat with our sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, moderators and panelists to gather any valuable information you need. Above all, please let us know if there is anything we can do to further assist in your transition to cleaner transportation.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Western Washington Clean Cities is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to expanding the use and availability of alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies. We help our members find ways to conserve fuel, cut costs, and minimize their fleet’s environmental footprint. In 2014, our region displaced nearly 19 million gallons of petroleum and prevented more than 96,000 tons of greenhouse gas pollution. That’s the equivalent of removing 20,000 cars from our roads!

Bringing Out the Best: Biodiesel & Renewable Hydrocarbon Diesel

It seems weekly there is a new announcement of a government fleet or trucking firm considering switching to renewable hydrocarbon diesel (RHD). With RHD’s ability to meet alternative fuel goals with no infrastructure changes, it is an attractive alternative to petroleum diesel. But, demand has quickly outpaced supply. What many people may have forgotten is that biodiesel blends are readily available and can meet many of the same requirements. This session will discuss how RHD fits into the overall biomass-based diesel landscape and how renewable diesel; / biodiesel blends can provide supply availability while exhibiting the combined emissions benefits of both fuels.

Why Propane Autogas Provides Your Best ROI

The Fuel Purchasing markets evolve daily, with upswings, downswings, and headwinds that can paralyze an operation. One trend has proven reliable - over the last 25 years, the price of propane has averaged about 40% less than conventional fuels. Choosing the right alternative fuel technology can be a challenge for most fleet professionals. Learn from the fleets, service providers and conversion companies helping sustain the success of propane autogas in the Pacific Northwest.

Top Maintenance Practices – Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF)

Diesel particulate filters (DPFs) are emission control devices designed to clean the exhaust emitted by vehicles’ diesel engines. Understanding how a DPF works in a diesel engine’s exhaust system is the key for proper maintenance. Paying attention to the frequency of a vehicle’s regeneration cycles is the most effective way to determine whether or not there has been significant ash buildup in the DPF. Ignore regular maintenance at your own risk. In this session you will learn:

1. How a diesel particulate filter (DPF) functions

2. The DPF warning signs that indicate that the DPF is not working correctly or is in need of maintenance / regeneration.

3. The impacts of accumulated particulate matter.

Moderator: Gary Lentsch – Fleet Manager, Eugene Water Electric Board

Guest Speakers: Peter Tuckerman – Vice President, Diesel Emissions Service
