To the casual observer, we produce (including the summer show with Boise Parks and Rec) eight shows in a calendar year. February 2018

Greetings and welcome to the Green Room Gazette.

I’m your host, BLT’s John Myers. As the years go by, I am constantly surprised by the number of things go-ing on at Boise Little Theater over and above our regularly scheduled shows. To the casual observer, we produce (including the summer show with Boise Parks and Rec) eight shows in a calendar year. In between the shows, there is always something going on: rehearsals for the next show or auditions for the show after that. But for some reason, January seems to be the month when all that goes on and so much more. And while I’d like to say I’m aware of everything that goes on at all times, I’ve been president long enough to know that’s not the case. So, this is what I know has been going on since Christmas:

Helene Myers and her cast of crazies went on a weekend trip to the cabin in the woods in Beer for Breakfast.

Wendy Koeppl has put together her cast for Exit Laughing.

BLT hosted Daisy’s Madhouse Theatre’s Will Act 4 Food to benefit the Idaho Foodbank.

Frank White had auditions for Death of a Salesman.

Jim Koeppl has started the selection process for Board of Directors nominees.

I almost got the “Letter from the President” done before Carolyn yelled at me!

‘til next time J

Exit Laughing Playwright, Paul Elliott, Coming to Boise!

ACTORS FORUM, a free monthly performance opportu-nity for actors of all ages, abilities, and experience levels, has been growing strong for over two years. Since the first meeting held January 7, 2016, the FORUM has hosted 45 monologues, 41 show tunes, and 16 indepen-dent short scenes. In addition, seven I-ACT member theaters (BLT, SCT, TVCT, Dream Weaver, Encore Theatre Company, Daisy’s Madhouse Theater, and Cen-ter Stage) provided over 20 preview performances, often donating tickets for the end-of-evening drawings. In addition to the 6-8 scheduled performers in each FO-RUM line up, audience members enjoy watching - and even participating in - the popular and unpredictable side show events. ACTORS FORUM has a growing col-lection of 48 sides prepared for any combination of en-thusiastic and brave actors to do cold reads. In June 2017, ACTORS FORUM introduced a new fea-ture: The Directors Showcase. Prior to each month, an individual is selected to practice his/her directing skills. This person proposes a short scene and selects a cast. The rehearsal time is minimal and being off script is op-tional by the time they perform at the Forum. Following the 5-7 minute performance, the director and cast answer any audience questions about casting, directing style, choices, etc. In September 2017 we moved to our new and best loca-tion of all: The Elks Club at 6608 W. Fairview in Boise. In addition to Elks Club hospitality, we now have af-fordable refreshments throughout the evening, grilled food to order, comfortable seating, great acoustics, and plenty of free parking. Start planning NOW for the March ACTORS FORUM! Paul Elliott, award winning playwright of BLTs upcom-ing production Exit Laughing, is coming to town! See arti-cle to the left for more details!
