Pond Clear Plus

Clears Cloudy and Green Pond Water- In Minutes!

Page 2: green pond water problems

Features & Advantages

Removes green water from ponds without exterior filter

systems to give crystal clear water

Mineral base powder 100% biodegradable

Works by ion exchange absorbs nitrites, phosphates

and other pollutants in the water.

pH Neutral" has no effect on waters pH.

Immediately starts to electrically charge individual

algae cells so they clump together & float to the top of

the pond to be skimmed off.

Controls & prevents green water and cloudy water for

extended periods.

Crystal clear ponds can easily turn cloudy without proper

pond cleaning. If your pond water’s clarity is deteriorating,

it’s always best to find out the cause before giving the cure.

There could be many different possible causes for this

occurrence. Let’s look at the most common ones.

Inadequate Bio-filtering

This is a typical problem with new and unbalanced ponds.

If your pond doesn’t have the right number and kinds of

microorganisms to be able to breakdown substances in the

water, your water is doomed to get murky. High levels of

ammonia and nitrite due to the lack of bacteria to break them

down, for example, usually turn water milky. To pinpoint if

these are the cause of the problem, test for ammonia and

nitrate levels. Pond water usually clears up 90% of the time

when ammonia or nitrate problems are resolved.

Poor Mechanical Filtration

If your water chemistry is acceptable, another possible

suspect is your mechanical filter. The inefficiency of your

mechanical filter to strain finer suspended solid pollutants in

the water can also be a cause of poor water clarity. During

summer season, when fish are most metabolically active, your

filter’s ability is tested to its limits. In general, it’s more

common to have clearer water in the winter than in the

summer due to the difference in fish activity.

Fish Food

Some loosely bound ingredients in fish food may break up

when it gets in contact with water and may cause water

discolouration. Some may also contain food dyes that can

stain the water. If you switched to a different food brand and

noticed the change in clarity after that, then this could be the

likely culprit.

Algae

This is another probable cause of cloudiness and green pond

water. An enormous growth of algae suspended in the water

can make your water so green like pea soup.

Does not affect biological filters or pumps.

Safe on concrete and synthetic liners.

Harmless to all fish, birds, reptiles, invertebrates,

humans, mammals, animals and water plants.

Removes green and cloudy water very rapidly, results

can be seen in minutes.

Simply dose Hydra Pond Clear Plus by broadcasting

over pond surface.

Very heavy green water may require two applications.

UV lights can be left on during treatment.

Green Pond Water Algae

Two types of algae most commonly plague ponds. One type

is blanket weed, which are strings of green hair-like growth

and another is plankton, notorious for making ponds look like

a giant bowl of pea soup.

Green pond water is the effect of the widespread growth of

huge numbers of plankton suspended in the water. Plankton,

which we will refer to as green pond water algae, are single-

celled algae that typically make their grand appearance from

spring, when days start to get sunnier.

Aside from sunlight, nutrients are the biggest growth boosters

for green pond water algae. Ponds get their natural supply of

nutrients from decomposed excess fish food, fish wastes,

dead decaying leaves and plants and fertiliser run-offs. The

more nutrients your pond has, the faster green pond water

algae grow.

Pond Cleaning

To fight the battle against green pond water invasion, you

need to cut down the nutrient supply available for algae

growth.

This could be done by routine pond cleaning, such as taking

out dead leaves and plants out of the pond with a net, a

skimmer or a pond vacuum, removing debris from the pond

daily, partial or full water changes.

The Problem

Page 3: green pond water problems

Hydra Pond Clear Plus is a breakthrough in pond cleaning.

It is a unique 100% biodegradable pond cleaning powder,

specially formulated to easily clear both cloudy and green

pond water.

Unlike algaecides, it has no harmful effects to fish, aquatic

life, pets and plants and does not affect your water’s alkalinity

because it’s pH neutral. Hydra Pond Clear Plus works

amazingly fast and positive results can be seen in minutes.

How it Works

When activated by water, Hydra Pond Clear Plus immedi-

ately removes pond algae by electrically charging individual

cells so they clump together then float to the surface where

they can easily be taken out with a net or a pond skimmer.

It also removes pollutants from the water by ion exchange.

By absorbing nitrates, phosphates and other nutrients that

encourage algae growth or cause poor water clarity, Hydra

Pond Clear Plus does not only effectively remove existing

pond algae. It also prevents its re-growth for an extended

period.

Seeing Through Cloudy Pond Water

A cloudy pond is not an automatic indicator of poor water

quality. In fact, some fish may even thrive more happily in

murky water, just like koi in the mud ponds of Japan. Even so,

no ornamental pond keeper would like to have murky water.

Whether healthy clean or not, cloudy pond water is an

automatic turn-off. Where’s the joy in having a pond full of

life if you can’t enjoy seeing them anyway through cloudy

water? Hence, maintaining a clear pond is always on top of

every pond keeper’s wish list.

Ways to Remove Pond Algae and Enhance Water Clarity

Science and technology have given us pond cleaning or

aquatic treatment products to help remove pond algae and

other pond pollutants. There are different types of product

formulations for this purpose. The main types can be classified

into chemical and mineral-based treatments.

Chemical Treatments

Chemical treatments or algaecides are very potent algae

killers. They may be effective in killing algae but are not

successful in removing other water pollutants, so using them

doesn’t guarantee you clear water. Likewise, due to the

potency of algaecides, their use may also pose a threat to fish,

aquatic life and the water’s natural balance.

Another setback of harsh chemical treatments is their length

of effectiveness. In general, the effect of algaecide in killing

algae is very short-lived so its frequent use is needed to obtain

continuous effects.

Aside from not being good for the health of your pond, its

required frequency of use does not make it a very cost-

effective option.

Mineral-Based Treatments

When it comes to solving the problem of poor water clarity

and green pond water, using a mineral-based product, like

Hydra Pond Clear Plus is a far better, safer and cost

effective solution.

Using Hydra Pond Clear Plus

Because Hydra Pond Clear Plus helps in filtering out

pollutants in your pond, it is an ideal pond cleaning formula

to use for ponds without external filters or ponds with

inadequate mechanical filtration systems. It is also completely

safe to use on ponds with concrete and synthetic liners and

works even if UV lights are kept on.

Clears within a few hours with full results by 7 days.

Simply broadcast over the surface of the pond. UV lights and

pumps should be left on during treatment to ensure adequate

aeration during the treatment.

Very heavy green water may require two applications. When

the algae starts to rise to the surface, skim from the surface

straight away.
