Deeply rooted in Indian classical music, having studied exclusively with her father, the legendary Ravi Shankar, sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar brings a selection of material from her latest album, Traces of You, a memorial to her father. It’s a highly emotional album that one reviewer said “goes much further in melting the borders that separate not just Hindustani Classical music — both ancient and modern — but the borders that separate Eastern and Western music as well.”

The Mutter — Bronfman — Harrell TrioBEETHOVEN AND TCHAIKOVSKY SUNDAY, APR. 19, 7:00 P.M.

Three of the most distinguished musicians of our time — violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, pianist Yefim Bronfman, and cellist Lynn Harrell — join forces to explore two trios with special dedications by their composers: the Trio in A minor by Tchaikovsky, dedicated “In memory of a great artist,” in reference to his friend and mentor, the pianist Nikolai Rubinstein; and the mighty “Archduke” Trio of Beethoven, a “symphony for three musicians,” as some have called it, that was dedicated to the composer’s benefactor, student, and friend, Archduke Rudolf of Austria.

THIS PERFORMANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE SUPERSTARS OF STRINGS AND CLASSICAL SPRING PACKAGES.
