Client Doreen Virtue Background: Doreen Virtue has a B.A., M.A., Ph.D in Counseling Psychology. She is a clairvoyant, and an expert in Angel Therapy. “Doreen is the author of over 50 books and 25 oracle card decks, on the topics of angels, fairies, healthful living, vegan eating, and spirituality, published in 38 languages globally. Doreen traveled worldwide giving workshops for the past 25 years. She now creates online workshops, and spends her time with her family, animals, and practicing yoga. Doreen has appeared on television and radio worldwide, including Oprah, CNN, Richard & Judy, Coast to Coast AM, and The View. (www.angeltherapy.com) Part of Doreen’s teachings is to be as good to the environment and to our own health as much as possible. She is very adamant about using eco-friendly products, and eating non-toxic organic foods. Therefore, this event will be exceedingly sustainable.

Event Annual Angel Party Once a year, Doreen hosts this event in order to invite friends, family, and many spiritual healers, teachers, readers, yoga/meditation instructors, and authors. This is a full day event holding approximately 150 guests (young adults and older) that will take place on April 4th, 2015 from noon until 8pm.

Venue Rancho Del Cielo “Malibu’s Rancho Del Sielo is located on the hills above Paradise Cove, with a spectacular ocean view, an acre of gardens filled with roses, jasmine, lavender, and olive groves, oak trees, rustic trails and an old California cottage.” This venue is absolutely perfect for the event due to its eco-friendly reputation. The ranch has approximately 600 acres of land, which is perfect for the meditation/yoga aspect of this event, and also has a beautiful outdoor dining area. The garden is stunning, and filled with beautifully scenic trails that lead to the view of the ocean.

In terms of being sustainable, there are a lot of initiatives that the Rancho Del Sielo takes to be eco-friendly. Outdoors The first main sustainable attribute about this venue is that most of the guests will be seated and placed outside. This cuts down on the use of electricity, air-conditioning, etc. The ranch makes use of its beautiful land and gardens in order to provide guests with a location that emphasizes the beauty of the outdoors, and the natural environment with all of its inhabitants.

Organic Food The Rancho Del Cielo grows many fruits and vegetables on site, including tomatoes, cabbages, and even produces their own homegrown olive oil.

Growing fruits and vegetables on the ranch is a sign of sustainability due to the fact that they support non-GMO products produced elsewhere. The Rancho Del Cielo also buys as many of their food produce as close to home as possible within the state of California. This also cuts down on the amount of carbon footprint left on the world. Community Involvement “At Rancho del Cielo Malibu, we believe in proactive community involvement at all levels. Whether it’s encouraging young Police Activities League members to convert a barren plant bed into a flourishing vegetable garden or providing a delicious home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner for students with no place to go on the holiday, or organizing a tough trail race for all age groups in the Santa Monica Mountains, we try to reach out to our community and take responsibility for its welfare -- now and in the future. And whenever it’s possible we try to share the beautiful place that we are fortunate enough to live in with guests both human and otherwise.” The Oak Tree Project Due to the neglecting of oak trees in Malibu since the early 90s, Rancho Del Cielo is adamant at planting acorn seeds into beautiful Oak Trees. This is exceedingly good for the environment, as trees absorb CO2, and obviously beautify our planet. Shuttle Service Rancho Del Cielo also provides guests with a shuttle service that takes them to and from the Ranch, as it is a bit difficult to reach the location otherwise. This also reduces the carbon footprint because of less transportation methods are being used.

Décor The décor of this event will be the very down to earth “shabby chic” sort of vibe. The main aspect is simplicity, as this is a spiritual trait that Doreen practices. Dining In terms of décor, the dining area is the main section, which needs to be elegant and eye-catching. The rest of this event takes place on the grass for yoga, and near the oceanside for meditation. The dining area consists of wooden tables, with a single long fabric that trails horizontally across the center of each. Also upon each table is a handcrafted cradle, with fresh beautiful floral arrangements placed within. These are quite simple decorations that successfully add that “wow” factor. Glass cutlery is provided from the ranch. This gets rid of using plastics and styrofoam, which is extremely poor in terms of waste management and the environment.

Lighting When the night falls, many forms of solar powered lights will light up the garden party. This includes solar glass bulb string lights, and solar jars which charge up during the day from the sun and light up at night. The jars also make a good decoration piece for the day because flowers are added into them.

The tables will also be topped with candles made from beeswax. Regular candles contain a toxin called paraffin, which is extremely bad for the air, whereas beeswax candles actually clean the air by reducing air pollutants, and actually help to eliminate allergies, asthma, and hay fever.

Speaker Setup Doreen and the rest of the guests speakers will need an audio setup to ensure that all guests are comfortably hearing all being said. In order to have this setup be as sustainable as possible, there will be minimal equipment used; one pair of speakers, a digital amplifier, and two microphones.

Yoga/Meditation Décor The rest of this event takes place within the outdoors. The meditation and yoga area does not need decoration. Everyone is to bring his or her own mat, making this aspect of the event extremely cost efficient. Flowers Fresh lavender is used to decorate and add fine details to the décor arrangements.
