ECOWEEK 2012 SpeakersAfter a successful ECOWEEK 2011 in Milano, ECOWEEK returns to Italy, for the first time, in

Rome! ECOWEEK 2012 takes place at a time of a financial and social crisis. Some may think that the

environmental view point of integrated development is a luxury. Quite the contrary: at times like now, to overcome the crisis we must innovate and bring change through positive intervention. Change comes in small steps. So, ECOWEEK works closely with cities, institutions, NGOs and vol-unteer groups around the world, to provide a platform where young professionals give solutions, share new ideas and a new approach to public space; through cooperation, education, training, entrepreneurship, and actual doing.

Following ECOWEEK 2012 the ECOWEEK GREENHOUSE will start operating in Rome. The GREENHOUSE is an international platform for innovation and for social and envi-ronmental entrepreneurship for young professionals. The GREENHOUSE is already op-erating in Athens, Thessaloniki, Holon, and soon in Rome, Belgrade and other cities. More at www.ecoweekgreenouse.org

I take this opportunity to thank the institutions who gave their patrocinio and support to ECOWEEK 2012 in Rome, and made it possible and successful. I also take this opportunity to thank the organizing team of professionals who made the impossible possible: Marialuisa Palumbo (In-Arch), Giorgio Scanino, and Francesco Bedeschi (UARC).

ECOWEEK is a non-profit non-governmental organization with the mission to raise environ-mental awareness and to promote the principles of sustainability. ECOWEEK was established in Greece in 2005, and is active today in 10 countries in Europe and the Middle East. Visit our website at www.ecoweek.org
