EDUCATION: Associate Degree in Natural Resources –Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton, Phlebotomy – Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College, Green Bay

CERTIFICATIONS: NFPT, Certified Personal Trainer, YMCA Certified Strength and Conditioning, Certified TRX Instructor

AREA OF SPECIALTY: Overall Health and Fitness

EXPERIENCE: I have been with the Y since December 2012. I work as a Member Wellbeing staff, Kettlebell instructor, and TRX instructor. I have always been active and enjoyed the outdoors, but I never truly worked out until my son was born in 2003. Not long after his birth, I began running and fell in love with it. I have competed in 5k, 10k and Half Marathons. I love competing against myself, always striving to be better than before. I’ve also struggled with PCOS, an endocrine disorder, and have learned the importance of fitness and eating properly. I understand firsthand how difficult it can be

TRAINING STYLE/PHILOSOPHY: If you want it, then I want to help you achieve your goal. We need to work together and at times it will be hard: you might want to quit. But when you’re done, whether it is a tough workout or you meet a goal, you will the love the feeling of accomplishment.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: My family, both the good and the bad. I’ve watched my husband find a “love” for working out and have seen him reach goals he never thought he could. I’ve also watched love ones who have struggled with health and weight issues and ultimately lost. I want to be a role model for others. I have two young kids and I want them to see the benefits of working out, not just for now but for the long run.

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: I love it when I see someone going for the heavier weight, because they know they can do it! Watching strength and confidence grow with clients is a great thing to see

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: I love using Kettlebells, TRX, and bodyweight. I also like to incorporate interval and circuit training

EDUCATION:UW Stevens Point - Bachelor’s of Science Degree - Major in Health Promotion and Wellness, Minor in Nutrition

CERTIFICATIONS: NSCA – Certified Personal Trainer, YMCA Certified Group Exercise Instructor, Certified LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Instructor, and Body Training Systems Certified Instructor for Group Power and Group Core.

AREA OF SPECIALTY Clients who want to get back in shape, lose weight, and learn fun new ways to exercise!

EXPERIENCE: I have been Personal Training and teaching group fitness classes since 2011 and began instructing LIVESTRONG at the YMCA (a program for cancer survivors) in 2013. In the past, I have had the experience of working with gastric bypass surgery patients as well as wellness coaching for corporation’s employees. Supervised Group Fitness for a total of 2 years (between two different locations).

TRAINING STYLE/PHILOSOPHY: Finding exercises you enjoy that work you hard! There is a reason why you are here. When your reason is revealed, it is a constant reminder for you to give each workout your best and to not give up. Hard work pays off!

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: As a child, I loved being active and was in sports all year round, but was still overweight. It didn’t click with me until my junior year of High School that physical activity is just as important as nutrition. With a lot of hard work and dedication I was able to get to where I wanted to be to feel comfortable in my own skin. My junior year of college I decided to take on the challenge of training for my first full marathon. That was the first time in my life I truly believed in mind over matter. I never envisioned myself running 26.2 miles…ever! Experiencing my own success influenced my career path in wanting to motivate others in achieving their life goals. There is nothing more rewarding than being a part of an individual’s journey; to watch an individual set their own goals and accomplish them is the best feeling in the world!

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: To witness an individual accomplish their goal and gain total confidence in themselves is amazing to see!

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Our body weight is a great tool in itself! Beyond that I enjoy the Kettlebells, TRX, and interval training.

EDUCATION: Associates degree in Business Management

CERTIFICATIONS: ACE certified Personal Trainer, KettleBell Trainer, Group Power Trainer, YMCA Certified Strength & Conditioning.

AREA OF SPECIALTY: I love to work with anyone big, small, young and not so young. Whether you are building strength or losing weight, or both, I love to help people achieve those goals while learning how to bring balance to their health.

EXPERIENCE: I have worked in fitness since 2007 & have been a Nationally Certified Personal Trainer since 2011.

HOW I WILL MOTIVATE/INSPIRE/HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE: I believe that health and fitness is not a one dimensional thing. You really don’t just walk into a gym and walk out and call it a day. I love to teach people how fitness is a three dimensional thing that is not just what we do, but must become what we are! I make workouts FUN, not to be confused with easy, and pride myself in teaching my clients the process of health and fitness. I feel I have reached success when, not only when my client has met their goals, but when they can walk away knowing that they are capable of taking their fitness into their own hands and REMAIN successful.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: I have been active all my life but really turned toward a passion in fitness to help deal with the stress, and weight, that being a mother of 6 brings. Fitness has helped me learn so many life skills; determination, strength in body, mind and spirit, and how to have balance in my life. It has bettered my relationships, the core of who I am, and made me physically unstoppable…how can one not be passionate about that!?!

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: I helped a client lose approximately 100 pounds in preparing for a major surgery. She went into the hospital and amazed the nurses with a heart rate and blood pressure of an athlete. Her surgery was a great success! I am so fortunate to be able to affect people in that type of way.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Anything! Variety is the spice of FITNESS!

EDUCATION:Bachelor of Science (Mathematics/Computer Science); St. Norbert College, De Pere

CERTIFICATIONS: ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified (Exercise Nutrition), Certified YMCA Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Keiser Instructor (cycling class)

AREA OF SPECIALTY Strength training and metabolic circuits.

EXPERIENCE: YMCA Employee since 2004; Group Fitness Instructor since 2008 (past: Bodyfit, present: Kettlebells, TRX, and cycling)

TRAINING STYLE/PHILOSOPHY: I like to start with the basics (bodyweight exercises such as lunges, squats, bridges, push-ups) and move from there. Without a good solid base, any “advanced” exercises could end up doing more harm than good. Building strength and fitness is like building a house. Without a good solid foundation, the walls could bow, the roof might sag, the windows may leak, and the foundation could crack. With physical fitness, foundational exercises that involve functional training, good core stability, flexibility and mobility are a must. My goal is to help you find a workout program that is sustainable and consistent. The main focus of a workout session should not be to kill yourself, but to enjoy it, making you want to come back for more

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: I have been active all my life and have done a variety of activities; everything from playing “kick the can” in grade school to rowing and competing with the SNC/Le Baie Verte Rowing Club in De Pere as an adult. A good challenge is always in my sights. As a mom of two boys I admit I have always been selfish with my workouts. A happy mom makes a happy home and for me, being fit, strong and healthy practically makes me sing. My boys have grown up seeing this and fitness/healthy eating is a natural part of life for them. I love to work out and enjoy the “high” I get from it. I know “being fit” isn’t easy. It took me years to get me to where I am today but with those years came experience and knowledge. I am who I am today because of who I was yesterday.

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: In the groups that I teach, I love the sense of rapport and community that develops from conquering a challenging class or move. Fitness doesn’t have to be a solo effort. The support of a group can help motivate and encourage. I also enjoy seeing the sense of accomplishment on faces after a tough class; the “I can’t believe I just did that but I did” feeling.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Number one: your very own body. Numbers two, three and four: Free weights, Kettlebells, and TRX.

EDUCATION: University of Minnesota Twin Cities – Kinesiology

CERTIFICATIONS: ACSM Personal Trainer, Certified BTS Group Active Instructor, YMCA certified in Group Exercise and Strength and Conditioning, CPR/AED and First Aid certified.

AREA OF SPECIALTY: Incorporating interval training, plyometrics (jumping or explosive exercises), and calisthenics (body weight exercises) to make their body work to conquer their fitness goals.

EXPERIENCE: I have been a wellness coach since 2012 and certified personal trainer since 2013. I train both men and women of all ages from youth to members in their 60’s and 70’s. I am always continuing my education and applying the knowledge to help and motivate my clients’ to reach their goals.

HOW I WILL MOTIVATE/INSPIRE/HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE: I train to encourage internal motivational factors (what inspires a person for their healthy lifestyle) and use fitness tools to show progress and affirm my clients’ goals. I believe it’s always good to work towards a goal, any personal goal, and once it’s achieved, to start a new one!

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: Participating in varieties of dance growing up and a high school anatomy class sparked my passion for the way the human body moves and does work! I incorporate exercises I learned during conditioning as a dancer, which are excellent options for both men and women to strengthen and define their muscles. I love learning about whole body wellness including exercise, nutrition, and emotional health and bringing new techniques to each session.

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: I have a client who has progressed so much that she has physical and emotional results. Her activities of daily living are performed with ease and she feels better in every aspect of health.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Fitness analysis because it shows my clients’ starting point and their progression while achieving their goals.

EDUCATION: B.A. University of Texas, Austin

CERTIFICATIONS: NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Level 2 TRX instructor, Certified Keiser (cycle class) instructor, Certified YMCA group fitness instructor, YMCA Certified Strength & Conditioning, Certified LIVESTRONG at the YMCA instructor (find out more about this program here).

AREA OF SPECIALTY: Functional fitness, corrective exercise and helping you believe in yourself.

EXPERIENCE: Group fitness instructor since 2005. Acquired personal trainer certification in 2011.

HOW I WILL MOTIVATE/INSPIRE/HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE: First & foremost, if it’s something you enjoy, you will find it easier to commit to it. I like to use exercises that work multiple things at once to get the most out of your time. Unless a client specifically wants to use machines, I tend to utilize other options. Finally, I believe in the core. Your core is your foundation and just like a house, if the foundation isn’t strong that which is built on it won’t be strong either.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: It started selfishly – I wanted to be in better shape. Over the years that selfish motivation evolved into an appreciation of the whole kinetic chain of the body and how it functions & deals with changes. Teaching classes at the Y allowed me to interact more with members and start to understand their goals and challenges. Requests from class members to do training with them as well as a personal injury and the recovery work involved with it (ACL reconstruction), motivated me to pursue the personal trainer certification. Helping clients achieve their goals and seeing the confidence it gives them is what continues to motivate me and helps push me to continue to learn more about fitness and training.

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: Achieving what has been unachievable. Whether that is winning the weight loss battle, doing daily activity without pain or regaining strength after cancer - I have had witnessed many moments of personal achievement that have made me proud.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Besides you & gravity, I like to use the TRX suspension trainer, TRX Rip Trainer, large bands, the BOSU and high intensity interval training.

My favorite training tool is the heart rate monitor.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: Growing up, our family spent many days outside; riding bikes, swimming, hiking. It’s a lifestyle.

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: One member told me before a class that she was feeling down and did not want to come in to exercise. She decided to join us anyway because she knew that I’d be able to help her cheer up and get motivated to have a great day.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: My favorite training tools are fitness testing and the imagination. Fitness testing establishes the baseline where we will begin our fitness journey. AREA OF SPECIALTY: Helping clients who are newer to exercise or that want to get back in shape by finding fun, motivating ways to stay active and achieve their goals. It is so great to see people gain confidence, motivation and become a better version of themselves! It’s about YOU!

EXPERIENCE: I have worked for the Y since March 2008, 3 of those years as a wellness staff. I teach classes for Active Older Adults and have had the honor of being a LIVESTRONG at the YMCA instructor, working with adult cancer survivors since November 2012.

HOW I WILL MOTIVATE/INSPIRE/HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE: Health and wellness is a daily journey and should be worked at continuously. My job is to help find exercises that you enjoy and that will help you want to make it a part of your daily routine. Hard work, dedication, and occasionally pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone will pay off!

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: I grew up active playing soccer and basketball year round, but after high school I didn’t have that anymore and that activity was no longer a priority. After working at the Y for a year or so, I decided to use my resources and seek out the help of some fellow co-workers and started my own wellness journey. The last few years I have lost weight, continued a regular exercise routine, changed nutrition habits, and have become a happier, more confident version of myself. I have learned to make exercise a priority. I know how hard it is to lose weight and how intimating it can be to walk into a gym. I

want to help others feel how empowering it can be to gain confidence and strength through fitness!

AREA OF SPECIALTY: Weight loss, core strength, balance, flexibility and diet.

HOW I WILL MOTIVATE/INSPIRE/HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE: I approach everyone differently, but it boils down to finding the balance between fun and hard work. I am a positive and creative person and I can customize a program to help you meet your goals. My strengths are my compassion and sense of humor.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: I was very active as a child, playing basketball and volleyball, swimming and dancing. As a young adult I became inactive, gained some weight, which then turned into even more after having three children. Through group exercise and proper nutrition I dropped the pounds and feel like a new person. I’m now inspired to share the benefits of exercise with others.

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: One of my yoga students (who is almost 70) thanks me all the time for her great posture, her strength and her weight loss. She exhibits all the best that proper exercise has to offer and has become my role model.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Kettle bells, free weights, and own body weight.

AREA OF SPECIALTY Overall fitness for YOU! My commitment is to create a safe and effective program that works for your individual challenges and goals.

EXPERIENCE: I began in the fitness field more than 20 years ago with certifications in Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Kickboxing and Cycling classes. I was an Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) examiner that certified Primary and Step Aerobics instructors. At the same time, I was a Sergeant in the Air National Guard/Air Reserves and completed training as a Medical Technician that included training as a certified Emergency Medical Technician.

TRAINING STYLE/PHILOSOPHY: A proper exercise routine can help you achieve a happier and more balanced life. Physical activity is beneficial for everyone at every level. My goal is to provide a safe, effective, and challenging program. Fitness and health is a lifestyle so I create programs that work with your life.

MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM: My passion for fitness comes from realizing how precious our health and well-being is at all phases. Often health is taken for granted without even realizing it. It is important to take care of yourself to enhance your quality of life and enjoy it to the fullest. We have one life! Live it to the fullest!

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT: Seeing a client achieve their goals. When I develop a program with a client and help define a goal with them, it’s inspiring for me to help them in any way I can to achieve that goal and become the person they set out to become.

MY FAVORITE EXERCISE/ TRAINING TOOL: Variety is my favorite! Change will keep you motivated – you can achieve exceptional results and stay energized and excited about your exercise and fitness program by varying the workout, adjusting your intensities, and pushing your limits. I’ll design a program for you that is within your comfort zone but gradually allows you to go beyond what you ever thought possible!.
