Sketch showing the positions of the amphorae to be measured. Also shown are the horizontal lines of the grid and the upper left vertical line of the grid. All positions are measured in respect to the vertical baseline.
Overall-view of shipwreck Uluburun III in a depth of 27 m. The strong effects of decay, especially the work of the shipworm (Teredo navalis) after four years of exposure is obvious. Left as a photostitch and above as a sketch.
Preparations for the series of exposures for the mosaicing. Simple diving equipment such as a»reel« with distance markers and a standard camera with underwater housing are used for this purpose. The second diver supervises the activities.
NAS II course October 2010 – DEGUWA-Teamconductor Dipl.-Ing. Gerd Knepel (AESD) assisted by the archaeologists Michaela Reinfeld M.A. (ESD) and Katrin Wolters M.A. (ESD).

Mosaic of Amphorae fi eld pictures Mosaic made from 72 single exposures. The optical effects due to the effects of water are avoided by trimming the pictures on 70 % of the original size. The red channel of the exposure is enhanced by +2 EV. The size of the drawed fi elds is outlined in white. The effect of perspective (movement of grid to subsoil) is obvious.

Position of four selected amphorae either tabulated and subsequently constructed. The advantages and disadvantages of the offset and the trilateration method have clearly be seen during the course.
