Greece in Europe

We come from Greece-a small country in the south of Europe.It has about 11.000.000 inhabitants

Greece and its parts

Greece has a lot of islands and mountainous areas.It is divided into 13 parts.We are in the North part just 120 Km away from Thessaloniki

Greek Macedonia

Greek Macedonia is the second largest prefecture in Greece,it is one of the most beautiful regions of Greece and its capital, Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece.

The perfecture of Kozani Kozani is the largest

prefecture of Western Macedonia of a 3562 square kilometres area and 150,431 people according to the 1991 census. It is studded with archaeological sites, historical monuments and bustling cities full of life and prosperity thanks to trade and deposits of lignite.(Greece has 52 prefectures).

The town of KozaniKozani (Greek: Κοζάνη), capital of Kozani Prefecture. It is located in the western part of Macedonia. The city lies 710 meters above sea level, 15 kilometers north-west of the lake Polyfytos.It is situated near the Egnatia Highway, which connects the coast of the Ionian Sea with Thessaloniki and Turkish borders.

The town of KozaniKozani is the home of the Technological Educational Institute of West Macedonia and the University of West Macedonia [1 [1], with about 15,000 students from all over GreeceGreece and other places.

One of the most important aspects of local folklore is Kozani's carnival at the end of the winter, which retains much of the profanity of the ancient Dionysiac cult.

In our school -There are

A small canteen for snacks which our students have during their breaks.The 2 classes of kindergarten for children aged 4-5 and 5-6. Two offices for teachers - smokers and non-smokers and the headmaster’s office.14 classes for the needs of teaching.

Our classrooms

There are 6 grades in the elementary (or primary) school ,2 classes for each.Each class has its own classroom.There is also a classroom for foreign languagesAnd a classroom for the daily school, where children eat .

Teachers and classes

Every teacher has a class - he is responsible for this class and teaches all the subjects. All teachers are qualified to teach all subjects in all classes.The P.E, music and foreign languages are taught by specialized teachers who are qualified to teach the specific subject.

The subjectsIn the first and second grade students have Language, Maths, Environmental Education, Arts, P.E. and cross-curricular subject. They come to school for 25 lessons per week.In the third and fourth grade English, History and Religious are added. They come to school for 30 lessons.In the fifth and sixth grade French or German, Geography, Science and politics are added. They are in the school for 32 lessons.

Hours in the school

The official program starts for students 8:20 and finishes at 12:30(kindergarten) 13:20 for the grades 1,2,3,414:00 for the grades 5,6 (not everyday)There is also the daily school (not obligatory) from 12.30 till 4.00. Children stayed at school for extra lessons.
