Stops 1 & 2 were featured in the November Great News...

Cape Tribulation is located around 400km north of Forrest Beach, and is surrounded on one side by the Daintree Rainforest and the Cape’s coastline on the other. Cape Tribulation is the only place in the world where two World Heritage areas meet, the Daintree and the Great Barrier Reef, making it an unrivalled ecotourism destination in northeast Queensland. Cape Tribulation is set to be one of the highlights of the trip, with the average June temperature a tropical 26*C. With ocean and reef adventures, rivers to cruise, and deserted beaches to enjoy, Cape Tribulation is a stop to look forward to.

Leaving the coastline, the Rally will then head inland to reach the Palmer River Roadhouse. Located directly west of Cape Tribulation, the Roadhouse sits along the Mulligan Highway, on the bank of the Palmer River. The historic Roadhouse is also home to a small museum, commemorating the river being the site of the original gold rush.

Stay tuned for stops 5 & 6 in the March Great News.

New to the Great Endeavour Rally, Gawain and Garry will be making their debut on the 2017 Coral Sea Adventure.

Car 13, “The Cruisers”, have signed up for the Rally Course to celebrate 30 years of Raising Dust and Dollars.

“I always wanted to participate in a car rally and thought this year, being the 30th anniversary year would be a good one to do,” Gawain said.

After deciding to sign up, The Cruisers purchased their VT Commodore Wagon as a ‘$400 Facebook special’.

“I have spent many hours making it a more capable vehicle in the hope of crossing the finish line with as little zip ties and duct tape as possible!” said Gawain.

As far as his navigator goes, Gawain says Garry is “in for a chat and hopefully keeps us on the right track”.

Gawain and Garry are most excited to have a good time and make some new friends, while also helping others in need.

“We hope to raise as much money as we can for Endeavour Foundation by doing things such as sausage sizzles, trivia nights, money boards, raffles, and more”, Gawain said.

Welcome to the Great Endeavour Rally family, Gawain and Garry!

After winning the 2016 Wild & Wackiest Car & Crew Award on their first ever Great Endeavour Rally, Brett & Mark from Car 716 “HRT” will be back again in 2017!

“We signed up because a work mate had previously completed the 2015 Rally, and they told us great stories of the adventure and mateship,” Brett said.

These stories rang true for the HRT boys, walking away with not only an award but some great stories and mates of their own.

“Our favourite part of the 2016 Rally was definitely the people we met, from the footy boys at the overnight stop in Winton, to the army boys and all the crew,” said Brett.

While Brett & Mark had a great time pumping out their “So Fresh” tunes (their only CD for 18 days), and dressing up in some of the most interesting costumes the Rally has seen, their Red Centre Adventure came with some unique challenges.

“By far the biggest challenge of the 2016 Rally was ensuring we had enough tape to hold our car together!” Brett said.

After a memorable experience on the Red Centre Adventure, they were inspired to register for the 2017 Great Endeavour Rally soon after they arrived home.

“Having a clutch would be at the top of our list for 2017, as well as catching up with all last year’s participants and meeting new people”, Brett said.

The HRT boys will get to show their Rally friends around their home town of Moranbah during the 2017 Coral Sea Adventure, and introduce us to their football club, the Moranbah Miners. The club are generously providing catering and campground the night we pass through town in June.

“Myself and Mark are both active members of the Moranbah Miners footy club. When we found out that the Rally was heading to Moranbah, we knew the footy club would be a great fit for the Great Endeavour Rally and are sure to put on a great night,” said Brett.

We are excited to welcome back the HRT Team, as well as being welcomed into a part of their lives for a great night in Moranbah!
