GREAT DAY OF SERVICE PRAYER GUIDE

Pray for those who are being served -

That they will see the love of Christ being demonstrated to them. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Matthew 22:39

That they will truly receive great benefit from the volunteers who come to help them, both physicallyand emotionally.

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul isgetting along well. 3 John 1:2

That relationships will be formed between those being served and some of the volunteers workingwith/for them.

In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas), who was always doinggood and helping the poor.....All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and otherclothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. Acts 9:36, 39b

Pray for each one who serves -

To be “clothed” with Jesus’ character by the power of the Holy Spirit

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

To serve faithfully, as unto the Lord

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in itsvarious forms. 1 Peter 4:10

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, youdid for me.' Matthew 25:40

To serve in God’s strength and for His glory

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do itwith the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him bethe glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

To be protected from accident and injury while they are working

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protectthem by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one.John 17:11

To make new and/or stronger Christian friendships as they serve with others

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11

To have opportunities to share Christ

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 1:16
