Fleshy and broad but quite dry, offering reasonably intense bitter lemon and lime flavors. Betrays a bit of heat on the tangy finish. 2010 Chilcas Cabernet Franc Single Vineyard Maule Valley 87 points: Dark purple. Pungent dark berry and cherry pit aromas are slow to unfold. More expressive on the palate, which offers light-bodied blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of cracked pepper. Finishes tight and linear, with good cut but a slight dry edge. Black and blue fruit preserves on the highly perfumed nose, with licorice, vanilla and floral qualities adding complexity. Broad, pliant cassis and blueberry flavors become spicier with aire.
