Aunt Ethel Beatrice McIntyres (married names Kyle (WD), Garrett) cookbook was passed to

Cousin Donna Jean Mathers of Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, United States by Aunt

Beatrice, also of Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, United States.

Cousin Donna Jean Mathers of Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, United States, in turn

passed this cookbook on as a surprise to Jeanette Tracy McIntyre of Bozeman, Gallatin County,

Montana, United States in July of 2012.

History Of This Cookbook:

This cookbook appears to be a combination of Grandmother Rebecca Harris Thompsons (married

name McIntyre) recipes, lists, envelopes and Aunt Ethel Beatrice McIntyres (married names Kyle

(WD), Garrett) recipes , lists, clippings.

A Christmas list appears to be one of Grandmother Rebecca Harris Thompsons (married

name McIntyre) written between 1936 and 1940. This date is estimated based on Morris Luther

McIntyre still being married to Gladys Pauline Pearce, as well as listing their son Charles Pearce

McIntyre, born August of 1936 .

In this list the writer refers to herself and her husband as Dad and me. Aunt Ethel Beatrice

McIntyre (married names Kyle (WD), Garrett) never had children, so it is not thought that she would

refer to her husband as Dad. It is also thought that Aunt Ethel Beatrice McIntyre (married names

Kyle (WD), Garrett) would also not refer to her mother and father as H.F. and Becca, as Rebecca

Harris Thompsons (married name McIntyre) children called her Mother and Grandchildren called

her Grandmother, as this was Rebeccas chosen term for position of Grandparent.

There is also an envelope addressed to Mrs. H.F. McIntyre (Rebecca Harris Thompson (married

name McIntyre)) old enough where the post office had not yet started using a date on their postal

stamps. Also included was an envelope stamped 1926 to Paul Harris McIntyre and another envelopeaddressed to Beatrice McIntyre. (Aunt Ethel Beatrice McIntyre (married names Kyle (WD), Garrett))

The earliest clipping appears to be from 1917. If this clipping were from Aunt Ethel Beatrice

McIntyre (married names Kyle (WD), Garrett) , she would have started collecting the recipes from

about age 15.

An interesting segment of the recipes appear to be a collection of favorite recipes women used to bring

to bridal showers or anniversaries. A recipe specifying Miss Hilda McIntyre is listed placing her

recipe before 1933, when she married Charles Clingoson Bush, a.k.a. Clink.

Also interesting is a card addressed to Grandmother Rebecca Harris Thompson (married name

McIntyre), from Aunt Beatrice and husband Fred Kyle, the back of which is noted from Beatrice.Dating ranges between 1925 when Aunt Beatrice married Fred Kyle to before July of 1945 when Fred

Kyle passed.

Examination of the handwriting reveals that some of the recipes are in Grandmother Rebecca Harris

Thompsons (married name McIntyre), handwriting as well as in Aunt Ethel Beatrice

McIntyres (married names Kyle, (WD) and Garrett) handwriting.

Also noted was a slight handwriting style change on part of Grandmother Rebecca Harris

Thompson (married name McIntyre) over time, when comparing to other documents written in her

hand.

Some handwritten recipes appear to be very old given the type and weight of the paper, however these

cannot be identified specifically to Grandmother Rebecca Harris Thompson (married name

McIntyre) as of January 2014.
