Our Customer Portfolio Speaks for Itself…Twin Decks
At Gray & Adams Ltd, we are fully aware of the now universally acknowledged concerns about climate change and its effect on the planet.
Gray & Adams takes these concerns very seriously and, as an innovative and proactive company, has developed products which help to reduce some of the negative effects that transport has on the environment.
Firstly, the Gray & Adams insulated trailer has been developed to now offer a 92% end of life recyclability factor.
Environmental Concerns
Gray & Adams Environmental Innovations: Low Noise Design
The Gray & Adams Design• 10.5 metre urban delivery trailer
• Gray & Adams unique low noise floor surface
• Gray & Adams sidewalls manufactured to meet noise-reducing criteria
• Dhollandia pneumatically operated Ultra Low Noise retractable tail lift
• Carrier Extra Low Noise refrigeration unit - operated by mounting the engine into an encapsulating box underneath the trailer.
The PIEK scheme stipulates that all vehicle equipment should operate at less than 60dB in order to be allowed to carry out night time delivery (between 11pm and 7am).
Waiting times & parking
restrictions less problematic
Increased safety on roads & less
accident damage to trailer
Reduced congestion during
peak periods
Reduced journey times – trailer is more efficient
The Low Noise Design offers distribution companies the benefit of being able to transport goods when roads are less busy and residents will not be disturbed by vehicle noise at night.
Gray & Adams is only trailer/body manufacturer in UK to have received Silent Approach AwardGray & Adams has been involved in designing a low noise trailer in conjunction with the Noise Abatement Society who have looked to the Senter/Novem PIEK Scheme in the Netherlands for direction – Albert Heijn pilot scheme.
Gray & Adams Environmental Innovations: Fuel Saver Range
Trailer may be more aesthetically
appealing
Short payback period on
additional cost of installation
Fewer damaging emissions produced
Significantly reduced fuel consumption
The pressure to preserve the environment runs alongside the need for trailer and vehicle features that help to decrease fuel and other operating costs.
According to the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA), aerodynamic trailer designs can offer fuel savings of up to 10% .
In today’s economic climate, fuel saving equipment is becoming a ‘must-have’ part of the trailer design rather than being an added benefit.
Deli XL Case Study
• Deli XL is part of the worldwide Bidvest Group, representing the company in Holland and Belgium
• Gray & Adams formed a relationship with Deli XL due to a long business partnership with 3663, the UK sister company of Deli XL
• Gray & Adams has previously delivered 80 vehicles for Deli XL. Another 15-20 to be delivered over the coming months.
Deli XL Case Study
THE DELI XL SPEC:
• Very bespoke design
• Triple lane bodies which can carry four cages across the body, with 2 narrow lanes and 1 wide lane
• There is only a 2/3mm flexibility in each lane when cages are loaded
• This proves the engineering skills of Gray & Adams as such critical and precise measurements are extremely difficult to achieve.
