Hand Assembly of the Graplon Connector on to the Coiled Tubing

1. Prepare the end of the coiled tubing using the standard wheel pipe cutter and remove the burr left on the O.D. of the tube using a file.

2. Screw the Grapple Collet into the Grapple Housing until the end face of the Collett sits flush with the end of the Grapple Housing.

3. Slide the Grapple assembly approximately 6 inches up the coiled tubing and lock it in place with the single grub screw (use a 3/16” A/F Allen Key).

4. Install the external and internal O-rings and the internal metal seal ring against the bottom shoulder in the Seal Housing. (The internal O–ring is situated to aid installation (seen in next slide) and is not required to seal).

5. Fit the Seal Housing onto the coiled tubing. Use a soft mallet tap and lightly rotate the Seal Housing for this operation. Ensure that the metal seal ring and Seal Housing sit tight against the end face of the coiled tubing. (seen held in position by internal O-ring below right).

6. Release the single grub screw in the Grapple Housing and carefully lower the assembly onto the Seal Housing to rest against the white PTFE ring. Check that the Seal Housing and the metal seal ring are still correctly positioned against the end face of the coiled tubing.

7. Lock the single grub-screw in the Grapple Housing

8. Screw the Bottom Sub on to the Grapple Housing until it reaches the pin thread undercut (arrowed below) and tighten by hand - then release the single grub screw in Grapple housing (inset below) and continue to hand tighten on to the coiled tubing. Using the Spanner provided tighten the bottom sub a further 1/2 to1 turn so that the grapple is secured to the coiled tubing and able to carry the weight of the Hydraulic Jig Assembly.

Hydraulic Installation Main Components

Installing the Graplon Connector with Hydraulic Jig Assembly

1. Using the correct size jig and installation dolly fit the Hydraulic Jig Assembly over the coiled tubing to rest on Graplon connector as shown

2. Attach the hydraulic hand pump and apply hydraulic pressure (6000 PSI).

3. With the connector under hydraulic load the Bottom Sub can now be screwed tight, using the spanner provided tighten the bottom sub until solid resistance is felt and then continue a further ¼ to ½ a turn (this equates to 300 Ft/Lbs torque approximate). NOTE: The pin undercut (arrowed below) will still be visible.

4. Lock the four grub screws in the Bottom Sub (use a 1/8” A/F Allen Key).

5. Release the hydraulic pressure and with the hydraulic piston and dolly fully retracted clear of the Graplon connector (arrowed below left) remove the Hydraulic Jig Assembly.

6. Tighten the Grapple housing single grub screw (inset below).

The Graplon connector is now ready for fitting the bottom-hole assembly
