About the BooksThe books are about murder, investigation and mystery. The colour palette is black, white and a vibrant bright red. These colours are to resemble the feelings of fear, blood, passion and darkness.

In much consideration each cover and book design from front to back was designed with a grid. The titles of the books were first illustrated or painted than was digitalised after refining. Various design methods were carried out in the final presentation.

The name of the author is in a hand designed scripted font which demonstrates the personality of Agatha Christie. Inspired by the old freely written name however with more attention to the smaller details in the kerning and individual letter for easier legibility.

Book1. THE MYSTERIOUS MR. QUINMr. Quin one of the main characters is quite the mysterious one. “He seems to appear and disappear almost like a trick of the light.” As the book carries on Mr. Quin was mentioned that his presence is like an omen; ‘sometimes good, but sometimes deadly.‘

In keeping with the apparent theme. The inspired font created is based from the old English decorative writing especially seen in the word [Mysterious] the word isn’t clear because it help demonstrates the dark content.

The chosen silhouette of a man face is to highlight the mysterious nature of Mr. Quin and will attract readers to want to know more.

It has been a typical New Year’s Eve party. But Since his arrival at the house, Mr Satterthwaite – a keen observer of human nature – has had a sense that the real drama of the evening is yet to unfold. And so it proves when a mysterious stranger knocks on the door. Who is this Mr Quin? Mr Satterthwaite’s new friend is an enigma. He seems to appear and disappear almost like a trick of the light. In fact, the only consistent thin about him is that his presence is always an omen – sometimes good, but sometimes deadly…

Book2. Parker Payne InvestigatesParker Payne put in add in a newspaper asking readers if they are happy, helping in fields of a broken marriage and murder mysteries; “Mr. Parker is possibly the worlds most unconventional private investigator.“

Maintaining the idea of the original newspaper design instead I created a thick text (Parker Payne) and edited it in Photoshop to create the image of newspaper ads to come through. A similar edit was made to the word (Investigates) using fingerprints to appear.

The back cover carries over the newspaper theme creating it to look as a newspaper ad itself. Fingerprints were added into the design to highlight the book is about investigate as soon as you see it.

Mrs Packington felt alone, helpless and utterly forlorn. But her life changed when she stumbled upon

an advertisement in The Times which read: ‘ If not, consult Mr Parker Payne’ … Equally adept at putting together the fragments of the murder mystery or the pieces of a broken marriage, Mr Parker Payne is possibly the world’s most unconventional private investigator. Armed with just an intuitive knowledge of human , he is an Englishman abroad, travelling the globe to solve and undo crime and misdemeanour…

‘Are you happy?

Book3. Five Little PigsFive Little Pigs is named after a nursery rhyme (usually using your toes to tell the story) the book related the rhyme with the number of suspects and what they were doing at the time. The interpretation of the nursery rhyme displayed with feet on the cover was most suitable for the books content. The colour black and white is very classic and complementary resembling purity and blood.

The foot angling is symbolic of a deceased person. The design is clean and simple yet very effective. The title of the book was created using a small brush and ink to create that horror type font.

Beautiful Caroline Crale was convicted of poisoning her husband – but, just like that nursery rhyme, there were five other ‘little pigs’ who could have done it: Philip Blake (the stockbroker) who went to market; Meredith Blake (the amateur herbalist) who stayed at home; Elsa Greer (the divorcee) who had her roast beef; Cecilia Williams (the devoted governess) who had none; and Angela Warren (the disfigured sister) who cried all the way home. Sixteen years later, Caroline’s daughter is determined to prove her mother’s innocence, and Poirot just cant get that nursery rhyme out of his mind…
