2009-2011 NSW Heritage Grants program The two year 2009-2011 NSW Heritage Grants program was launched in October 2008. Competitive applications for the Works; Interpretation; Community Strategic products and services projects; and the Special Program for Major Cultural and Community Heritage Buildings program were received and approved in 2008-09 for implementation over 2009-11. Applications for all other programs were opened throughout the year: Conservation Documents and Management Reports; Local government heritage management; and Aboriginal heritage projects. Once sufficient project applications were approved against the program funding allocation, the programs were closed.

Program 1 State Heritage Register and state significant heritage item projects Works Program No new projects were approved in 2009-10. (50 projects were approved in 2008-09 totalling $2,196,200 over two years to be carried out in 2009-10 and 2010-11.) SHR Nominations Program No new projects were approved in 2009-10. (One project was approved in 2008-09 totalling $100,000 over two years to be carried out in 2009-10 and 2010-11.) Interpretation Program No new projects were approved in 2009-10. (Five projects were approved in 2008-09 totalling $77,650 over two years to be carried out in 2009-10 and 2010-11.) Historical Research and Local Archives Program A grant totalling $90,000 was approved in 2008-9 for the Royal Australian Historical Society to administer two annual funding programs on behalf of the Heritage Branch Department of Planning for 2009-10 and 2010-11. The Royal Australian Historical Society operates an annual funding program using a grant of $45,000 (that includes 10% for RAHS administration costs) for historical research and presentation of histories that support the Heritage Council’s thematic priorities; and collections management planning for local archives and local photographic collections. Twelve new projects were approved in 2009-10 totalling $40,300. (Eighteen projects were approved in 2008-09 totalling $40,500.)
