Look at yourself as a whole person. When you see yourself in the mirror or in your mind, consciously decide not to focus on specific body parts You are not your nose your smile or the
Focus on being the best you, you can be. Whether you decide to try a new hairstyle or learn a foreign language self –improvement is about feeling good about yourself and
specific body parts. You are not your nose, your smile or the circumference of your waist; you are the sum of all your (inner and
outer) parts. See yourself the way others see you –as a whole person.
or learn a foreign language, self –improvement is about feeling good about yourself and enhancing your happiness factor, not about competing with someone else’s idea of who you should be. Center your attention on the journey, the process of trying out a new version of you; not the end result, like the number on your bathroom scale, or
reaching the dress‐size you wore in high school.Surround yourself with positive people. It's easier to feel good about yourself and y p p p g yyour body when you spend time with people who are supportive and like themselves and others for who they are, not what they look like. If you want to be healthy, inside and out, consciously choose to surround yourself with people who are comfortable in
their own bodies and who make you feel comfortable to be around.Become a critical viewer of social messages. Pay attention to the images, slogans,
d i d h d li i d k f l b d b lf and attitudes that send unrealistic messages and make you feel bad about yourself or your body. Remember, the objective of the fashion industry is to sell clothes and make money, not to inform, serve or guide you. This doesn’t mean they are bad people; they just have a job to do. Be an educated consumer by not allowing yourself to be lulled into advertising campaigns that suggest that you need to be different and you need to
spend money to get that wayspend money to get that way.Challenge yourself to indulge ‐ in you. If it’s been awhile since you’ve bought yourself something new to wear (if your last clothing purchase included built‐in
shoulder pads this means you!) take this challenge: give yourself permission to spend a bit on clothes that are current and make you feel good about yourself. Remember,
there is a connection between feeling good and looking good. Ask a friend to go with you, to help nudge you outside your style comfort‐zone and to be honest about what looks good and what doesn’t. Allowing yourself to spend a little time and money on
you, doesn’t mean you’re vein or shallow. Buying a few pieces of clothing that are both flattering and in‐style is a great way to feel good, feel confident and have a little fun
while you're doing it!

On Friday, November 18th, a statue of
Community
On Friday, November 18 , a statue of Grandover's logo, the griffin, was installed at the main entrance to Grandover Resort on Groometown Road. The statue was designed by Greensboro Artist Paul Nixon.(left)
I 6 K C ti b t In 2006 Koury Corporation began to conceptualize a master plan for the Groometown Road entrance. The decision was made to create a grand central statue of Grandover's logo, the griffin.
A custom statue was commissioned by local artist Paul Nixon, who successfully captured the essence of the logo. Mr. Nixon sculpted a miniature version of the statue which was then cast in resin and sent to Grandover Residents Steven & Cindy Bennett of Metropolitan Galleries who developed the large bronze statue
